I just had a bomb dropped on me by a plane that was in front of and below me. Great game.

Next time, don't fly closer than 200 meters to a plane with bomb low on the ground?

This is so going to get a lot of flak...

Sounds like the blast radius caught you.

I killed a guy with a bomb from 3500m. I still feed on his despair

But a truce to this mournful story

For death is a distant friend

So here's to a life of glory

And a laurel to crown each end

So, you were above and behind? Like this?

Or was it like this?

Bombs are dangerous. Keep your distance or risk being blown out of the sky. Just ask Tex.

Bombs still work the same way in 2.0.x, but I don't have videos because WG hasn't figured out how to re-enable replays yet.

...when you drop bombs from your bomber almost 4km above and 15 seconds later...+200 to combat points...:teethhappy:

Most of my 2000 plus bomb kills came when I was in front and low.You want to lure the target down low, thats half the fun of a bomb kill, getting them to take the bait.

Nothing beats Alex's quintiple bomb kill...I wonder what it's called, though...

To be fair, bomb kills aren't nearly as vicious as they once were or should be. Blast radius is a thing. Don't follow a ga low and slow and you won't get bomb killed or tailgunned to death.

This is completely avoidable, but a common new player complaint.  It wouldn't be fair if that big juicy pool of easy to shoot hitpoints was completely helpless.

Chalk it up to "live and learn" and don't get yourself killed this way again.

Wait until you get killed by a face full of rockets.

Bombs carry momentum. It is possible the guy was moving very fast when he let go of the bomb, sending it flying pretty far away. I know for certain that I tend to overshoot a couple of ground targets while flying my Me 265 at top speed

The tickler is bombs hit the circle.  The bomb will fly through solid objects to hit the circle.  The circle is exactly where the bombs will hit.  I kept getting upset when my bombs kept going long then I realized they had no collision detection with objects but had collision detection with the ground only.

A bit quirky to say the least.

I was flying my IL-2(t) and an  FW190 with full health comes at me head on.  He dies before any of his rounds hit me.  He respawns in area I am headed. He starts another head on attack. But changes mind.  Swings behind me.  I am low on ground and let 3 bombs drop. He dies gloriously. He then chats 'his team sucks' and leaves the battle and goes back to the hanger.

I'm not 100% sure that they do. I've had bombs get stuck on roofs, causing them to miss a few ground targets. Also, I've had rockets go through stuff when they usually hit it. Something's off here

P.S.: Bombs apparently can also directly hit aircraft (I mean the bomb itself, not the blast), so watch out when flying under bombers
