Think I've gotta go with the Spitfire I. It's just so fun to fly and easy to be successful with. Though I do like the Yak-7 for sheer hilarious 37mm cannon kills, it is a lot trickier to fly than the Spitfire.

Spit-1A = Maneuverability & Speed & sprays lead

A6M3 = Maneuverability & Packs a 30mm

SE100 = Wicked TG & Maneuver (for a heavy)

Hurricane II D = Fun to watch crap explode & more fun to watch crap flying right at you explode

 Yak 1 = Speed, maneuverability & guns (Runner up)

 A6M2 = Guns & maneuverability (Close second)

I find that I prefer BnZ and Heavy Fighters.  My current favs are (in no particular order):

P-38F

BF-109B

F4F

BF-110E

Spitfire I from the tree.  Hard hitting, and really not many weaknesses.  I love both my Spit Ia and A6M3 premiums as well.  The Ia is probably a bit weaker than the Hamp, but it's been very good to me as a learner.  If it was a Ib with 20mm it would be perfect.

I think P-40.

Nothing much in tier can match it for speed, actually still turns OK, has OKish altitude performance & the 6* 12.7mm rip through enemies very quickly with no concern for overheating the guns.

Also I love the way it looks like a little plane attached to a big engine.

Others:

Spitfire I -not that fast but one of the best TnB & 2* 20mm + 4* MGs is great firepower in tier.

Beaufighter -so much firepower in one muscular airframe

SE 100 -no good vs ground but 4* 20mm in the nose plus totally OP 20mm tailgunner FTW.

Yak-1 -great TnB at the expense of pretty light firepower.

Airabonita & Yak-7 are good derping fun.

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.

SE 100 is a psychotic mad Max like plane.  It seems purpose built to hurt feelings.

I would have to agree with Hoom though.  The P-40 was fun and my highest kill per sortie tier 5.  And I didn't know it was an energy fighter when I was super noob 5000 and still despite that I was somewhat successful in TnB method.

Almost wanna buy her back just to look at her.  P-40 is emotional favorite.  SE is logical favorite.  Controlled hoolaganism = SE 100.

Beaufighter -- firepower

Hurricane IID -- maneuverability/firepower

Spitfire Ia -- maneuverability

A6M3 -- maneuverability

BOOMERANG.

So in the Soviet line how would the non-premium Lagg, Yak and Mig at tier 5 compare in the game. I can compare the three on a website and the Mig has speed, altitude and weaponry as obvious positives, but less agile. The Yak has the edge in maneuverability and the Lagg in HP, survivabilty and ROR. I was thinking of heading for the Mig first.

I didn't notice much difference between LaGG & Yak-1 other than LaGG being noticeably less good at turning -> inferior.

MiG-3 is my most recent acquisition, its really something else after playing a bunch of pretty low altitude capped planes.

Its nice being able to enter combat fast & high altitude. Turning is not the best, lacks the kick of 20mm cannon but it does have good dps & you don't have to worry about guns overheating.

With all the bombers around now its got a good anti-Bomber/Heavy mission now.

as much as i 'stiffen' while flying all tiers of heavies...

i can't say T5 heavies in particular make me smile as much as the world's most beautiful plane, the T5 Spit I

followed closely behind by the P-40, which i have no business flying well but i've nevertheless banked more CP than any other LF in it's tier

even as a son of a ww2 C-47 pilot, it's still my earliest memory of any ww2 plane...  that shark-toothed grin haunted me

Never did like tier 5...

...but Beaufighter is good for a gold-free option...

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

I need more time to play more selections of planes but i have been having a lot of fun playing the Beaufighter lately (tanky firepower).
