hmmm... is anyone else seeing those 'new players' that have flown 5-10 battles but still have 100% WRs?

 

Persha coders?   Persha coders' brother-in-laws?

 

Bots?

Really clever humans who've read everything about Conquest mode and fly a bomber with a close protection fighter (in a flight) at high altitude? 

 

I doubt it's anything to do with Persha coders (or their familiies), I think they're contractually prohibited from playing the game in case they start to sympathize with the customers players (you know the Kiev Stockholm Syndrome)...

Just reading through the recent Developer Q&A (Part 2), I wonder whether there's a significant departure from reality somewhere, or whether the numbers we're backing into are correct or the devs have #s we're not aware of (or can no longer access, or both):

 

Q: How did the release of 2.0 influence the total number of active players? 

In several regions where the game is available, our daily player count grew so significantly that it became several times greater than we’ve seen over the last three years. That’s impressive considering that some players thought the changes we’ve made were too drastic for them to continue playing. This indicates that we are on the right track and we will continue developing new exciting features. We are sure you will like them. [Italics mine].

 

Is anyone else a little worried when they see this? Not so much for the thoughts- noble enough- but wondering whether there's a disconnect between dev and customer player (sorry, got to stop confusing the two) perceptions of how things are progressing?

Feel free to calculate using the posted methodology, or he does (sometimes) post #s for other servers on the EU Czech sub-Forum (see sources post # 1). 

 

For myself, I'm happy enough that these #s and trends could be extrapolated to RU and NA servers, albeit they've different relative populations (NA-EU-RU): 4249-6765-11409 or c20-30-50% of global player base.

I don't need to calculate anything to know that the numbers on NA are in a decline again but if somebody thinks differently then they can go ahead & show the numbers to prove me wrong.

WG seem to think differently, but they won't unfortunately provide the #s to show that we're either buying early access to a success or betting the Titanic will rise again...

What's really troubling (to me anyway) is the shutting down of API access to player #s. And the accompanying sense that the developers are deluding themselves- and maybe worse their player base- from their February 2018 Q&A Session here [bold italics mine]:

 

Q. Why was the API for the server population on https://developers.wargaming.net/ removed? Can you give us any indication of the online population during peak hours on the NA server? What are the peak hours? Would you consider unlocking the server population API again so that this website would work again?

A. The peak hours are 8 p.m. - 10 p.m. CTA. API access was removed because the server population became a bigger deal for the players than the game itself.

 

If this isn't disingenuous I've got a WWII combat flight game to sell you. Let's all be really clear here- it's been removed because if folks sense the game is losing its player base, they won't throw $s at it.

Same here... but then I run into straight out whiny sealclubbers and realise: sometimes going down there and ruining their day is a community service

Did it come back recently? Or- to put it another way- even though I said over and over if we don't take that plant back we lose, nobody was listening...
