I would love to know more about what the game was like way back when.

Let it go. It's not coming back. Move on.

I remember when ground targets where one solid object. Though I'm not sure if I'd like that to come back; it made my life easier, but it might have been a bit too easy? :sceptic:
This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

I remember when there was a V2 launch site in the blown out castle on Port. Maps were weird back then.

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

Yes I was here OP, and having the plane chase the mouse was STUPID.  Imagine trying to move the mouse cursor half way behind your plane in order to stay in as tight a turn as possible.  After that, when you were low tier all you were was fodder for the planes that completely outclassed you.

I'm glad the game isn't like that anymore.  But I do miss the "target cam" in the bottom left. . . and the maps.

in some ways the "old way" demanded some skill and determination, the latest game play blows chunks over that. and BTW...we are all still chasing the mouse cursor around. I liked the old game and for those of us with a little skill and determination we wish it were back.

That mode of mouse control isn't so bad when you configure it to be like a joystick.

I'm in a conversation with some of the players on the Russian forum and from what I understand the vector control was used a lot more than people think.

This is another example of WG overdoing every change.  All we can hope is that they bring back some more diversity in tactics and not just have the absolutely fastest or most maneuverable be the only planes to get.

Keep your head on the swivel.

Gosh! The old National Park map. I missed that map. I had both good and bad times on that map.

I'm sure a lot of people enjoyed that old game mode...However, apparently not enough to keep the game alive .
