Blame Flamu's video about 2.0.

Started in Closed Beta, left sometime around the official launch, lost all interest in the game, thought it sucked, etc.  Tried coming back after the most recent wipe, but still couldn't get very invested(and by that time I was hardcore into World of Warships.)  But now I got intrigued after certain youtubers' videos, especially since someone as sodium-heavy as Flamu had positive things to say about it.

I'm actually having fun right out the gate.  In particular I'm enjoying the Ki-27 and the Hayabusa.

Think I'll stick around.

The Oscar? You're a better and more patient pilot than I was. I found the A6M1 excruciatingly fragile and that's positively tanky compared to the Ki-43

I also had my doubts from my experiences with 1.x, but with 2.0 the game has become actually enjoyable, and that's coming from someone who really dislikes PvP games (bless the GAAs :bajan:)
This is my IL-2 (t). There are many like it, but this one is mine. :child:

So long as you aren't expecting the game to be a real simulator like some people who have recently been complaining on the forums, the game is a hoot!!

WB.  I feel the Japanese 43 line gets painful right at T5 but Tony at 6 makes it all better.

Welcome back.

I haven't played the A6M1 in this iteration of Warplanes yet, not certain if I'll like it more than the Ki-43-I.  I liked the A5M way back when I used to play, but using it now I feel like the Ki-27 just does its job better.

Also wow I don't remember heavy fighters handling this much like a flying drunk pig.  I remember liking the Fw 57 back then but now it's... less than stellar.  Hopefully the Bf 110 is still decent.

Fw 57, Blenheim F and Beaufighter all handle poorly, but the Bf 110 and Mosquito are quite a bit better. They aren't exactly light on the controls, but they don't wallow as much and are much snappier in their handling. Still, don't even think of turning with anything other than another heavy or a GAA.

I haven't played the Oscars since 1.9 but they were fun and painful back then, the Ki-61 is a beast in and the Ki-84 and Ki-94II are very dangerous. Can't comment on T-9 or 10 yet, about 30k xp away from the "Volksjager" clone so hopefull I can get it on my days off this week..

The hell, why are premium planes unable to retrain pilot proficiency?  That's like 90% of the reason I would even want a premium vehicle and why I bought some in tanks and warships.  I got some of those free ones in the giveaways but I don't even really play them because I'm wasting time that I could be spending on just playing the pilot in his own plane to get his proficiency to 100%.

In return, 90% retraining is just that. Retrains to 90%, with no strings attached, no cross-class penalty, no stealing from existing skill points. Takes only 10k EXP to return to 100%, with accel crew training is only a few games.

The reason for this change was totally incomprehensible, and still is (this isn't new to 2.0; it happened sometime in 1.9).

Premiums are useful for rushing points to acquire new skills. I use my Stosser to level up my 190 A-5 pilot since my A-5 is grinding XP for the Dora.

I'm seeing now the limitations of the Hayabusa at tier 5 with the Ki-43-II.  Having only twin 20mms is a rather big handicap when most everyone else gets both autocannons and MGs together.  I'm still doing just fine with the plane, but I'm seeing more than enough times where I could have easily killed a plane in one pass with a Zero but the target limps away with some HP left when I'm in the Hayabusa.

On the other hand, I'm glad to see the Bf 110 B is still fun like I remember.  I ended up being receptive to the Fw 57 but eh, not a keeper.

Also liking the BSh-2 surprisingly, since I heard it was the low point in the Soviet GA line.

It's horrible when stock, but once you get some cannons it becomes quite decent :great:

It's because those are not advanced cannons. The MGs that come with cannons are giving you the illusion of hitting hard when in fact it's just those peas making sounds.

Later on it will all be uniform armaments...

Hahaha, not even 2 weeks in and I already have some extra-salty guy messaging me after a battle to insult me about my shooting down his Blenheim bomber with my Bf 109.
