Note, if there is any substantial update between the 22nd of January and 7th of February I am unable to update due to travel. Don't think it is highly likely, but still so you know. I'll update if needed late on the 7th of Feb.

Now that we know whose real and who isn't, gotta be extra careful not to be HEAD HUNTING. The good Dr helped me out around X-mas and I have been using this mod and some of his others, and I have to keep reminding myself not to be solely targeting Human reds, as this is one of many reasons the player base in WoWP has had difficulty getting established. Ever wonder why in 2.0.X.0 they continually remove human player identifiers? Even plane comparisons have disappeared from pre-battle launch screen. I can see the logic from WG perspective. Maybe it would be better to do away with identification altogether, make it more realistic? ( like the removal of lead indicator). Red Barron aside, don't think many real life pilots knew the name of their enemy.

 

With 2.0  experienced pilots can still, for the most part, distinguish Bot from human and can still target them with the hit of the ALT button. With that knowledge comes power, and with that power comes responsibility. There are many players that still exclusively target humans, repeatedly. This cannot be good for the game. (and it doesn't help their team win, unless your the only other human... so the thinking goes, and did pre 2.0).

 

Head Hunting is one of the things that hurt the game (along with a litany of other issues including Seal Clubbing), so use with extreme caution! Especially as we try to grow the player base. Perhaps someday, when were back to PvP it won't matter.

Thanks Perrigrino for the words a caution. You make a good point and it's something I try not to do. I really just wanted this mod so I can more easily determine who the other humans on my team are and can better plan my tactics. 

 

Just to clarify though, is it head hunting if you are attempting to defend a zone and there are two bots and a human enemy in the same zone, so you go to kill the human first and then follow up with the bots?

i don't think that's workable, somehow...   but i'd be willing to at least try it

 

so...  not knowing who you're playing against until the final battle report?

 

do other games do that?

Sorry NorthenPorter for the late reply, I try not to dwell to long in these forums, as it detracts fro time spent doing things I enjoy.

 

Short answer- YES. And there are a lot of qualifications to the answer but they are mostly related to context- the peculiar situation you find yourself in. Head hunting is simply identifying those human targets and going after them first and foremost beyond all other possibilities; ignoring all other reasonable and attainable targets. Eliminate the human(s) first, which is/are the singularly greatest threat(s) in the game. The ridiculously unresponsive bots do not pose the same risk - anyway, that's the basic idea. 

 

Now, if one thinks about it, the game should be about targeting humans, since this is why we play MMO games. But the population base is not there YET, with WoWP. In RANDOM BATTLES of WoT and WoWS, this is not a problem, it is the objective.

 

But with recruitment and retention low n this game, WGaming needs to consider measures to bolster population. Whether head hunting, seal clubbing, match maker, BOTs, etc, they have their work cut out. But if population doesn't rebound.... well we saw what happened most recently with the complete overhaul of the game as a last ditch effort by the company. Bottom line, # = $. {"economics dictates social behaviour" (P.Z 1984.)}

For the current patch, yes, as it says in post #35. 2.0.4.0 is the current mod-folder, when that changes the topic will be updated to reflect that.
