I just noticed this but the weight of the Spit IX is 1800 kg and the weight of the Spit XIV is 3600 kg. How in the hell did this plane double in weight? The engines for the two for the maxed Spit IX and the Spit XIV have a 35 horsepower difference. This is with the top tier engine for the IX and the base engine for the XIV. So based on that, the XIV should be wicked slow when first acquired. Can one of you people who work for war gaming explain this? I understand planes gaining weight when going through different models but there is not conceivable way this plane could double in weight unless they swapped out all the aluminum parts for lead parts.

I suspect a typo, because with an enmpty load the Spit IX weighed 5600lb. :sceptic:

Do you think it effects flight characteristics at all? To me having double the weight would make the Spit XIV a complete pig to fly.

Nah, its an arcade game.

They might have at one point (improved covering adds to your weight but it never appreciably slows you down).
