i've often judged the condition of my plane and nosedived to get a new one

but it just seems... like cheating somehow

and rarely do i seem to make much of a difference when i do finally get back in battle

so, i've pledged to myself to stick with my original...  is that dumb?

I've taken a nose dive too sometimes but it is cheesy

In a word, yes.   ;)

How you get enjoyment from a game is entirely up to you.  If you wish to take on a little extra challenge by not getting a fresh plane prior to the squall, that's your prerogative.  Though you are handicapping your team a bit...

No punishment for getting a fresh airplane before Squall hits.  It's cheap, but smart.

However I moderate myself and will only do it if I'm below recovery HP.

Keep your head on the swivel.

Remember that Airbases with a wrench icon can repair your aircraft to full :bajan:

How long's that take and how do you do that?

thanks for the quick, measured responses!

i didn't think that it would bother my conscience at all, but it did

not enough for me to completely stop, maybe just moderate it a bit

Don't be the one to bring a beat-up plane into a circle and be the death that concede a sector that could be critical to the enemy...before 2.0  people had been stalling bots to heck and they had no qualms about doing that... When you are not chasing something specific you should be doing what it takes to win.

Provided that some smart guy didn't shot/bomb out the repair pad (displayed as wrench icon on the minimap) on the airbase under your team's control, go to it and fly over it at low (around 500-600 meters and below) altitude with no enemy in pursuit. There will be a blue wrench icon next to your HP bar to indicate that you can be repaired. Takes only a few seconds for the repair itself, the problem is how far you are from that airfield and whether can you even make it back...

As a rule of thumb, fly over the airbase's runway, if the wrench do not change from red to blue after a while, leave the airbase entirely and try again.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

i've seen very few wrenches, red or blue, but it must be because i'm still low tiers

one completely healed me, and i was so tickled that i hung around that airbase for the rest of the match to 'defend' it

no enemy came anywhere close, thus i wasted that wrench's hard work

There was a dev post on it. Basically if you meet certain conditions and fly close to the wrench, your aircraft is repaired automatically by 10% of its max hp per second. If I recall correctly, you must not have fired a shot within the past few seconds (5 I think? wait 10 just in case), the Airbase must be under your team's control and there must be no hostile aircraft nearby. It still feels a little wonky, often not repairing after 30 seconds of waiting and other times repairing as soon as you get in range. Also, the building that repairs you can be destroyed, and it won't rebuild unless the airbase is recaptured by someone else

There seem to be fewer airbases with the wrench after 2.01 than before?

I had been using the wrench quite often on certain maps but now I'm just not seeing them around so much, makes things pretty frustrating.

Mostly I haven't been suiciding prior to Squall line, couple of times I did I think the absence of my plane where it had been probably hurt the team more than me coming back from spawn with full health aided it.

But I do find I often die just after the Squall line because I hadn't been paying attention -> am out of the last 5mins watching bots/generally lower score ppl fail.

Dunno how to fix the impetus to suicide before Squall, the squall does help the game end in a way that allowing continued respawns till the timer runs out wouldn't.

You can't easily make a system to automatically penalise people for dying just before Squall, too many ways to die that would be indistinguishable from bad flying/genuinely shot down.

C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas le SerB.

Well a max respawn counter might be better.

Depends on how the battle is going for me. If there really isn't a chance of losing I don't do that. If there is or we are tied/actively losing I do it.
