The British heavy fighters are an interesting lot, starting off with a trio of converted bombers before moving on to dedicated twin engine fighter designs.  The Beaufighter at tier V is the second of the "former bombers" in the series, and I purposefully put that in quotes as the external ordnance carried by the fully upgraded Beaufighter is equal to if not greater than the loadout of a fully upgraded IL-2 Sturmovik.  With an arsenal of eight 1k damage rockets and a pair of 500lb bombs the Beaufighter can make quick work gaining the upper hand in the capture of a neutral battle point in Warplanes.  What's even better is that her performance in speed and turning doesn't suffer much at all from carrying all that extra baggage, so it's always wise to load up and get your team some quick points in the opening phase of every battle.

Even stock the Beaufighter is no slouch; she carries four hispano 20mm cannons under her nose and her wings are bristling with a half dozen Browning 303 MGs; four on the right side and two on the left.  Her firepower is so good when stock, in fact, that her guns never upgrade while you are working towards the tier VI Mosquito.  The Beaufighter's engines and top gunner can be upgraded, however, and this should be done as quickly as possible.  The top gunner upgrades from a single machine gun that can't hit anything to a large quad gun turret that can hit *everything*.  The benefit to such a large aircraft from getting more power out of her engines is self explanatory.  Upgraded or not, the Beaufighter will make sure that your journey from the Blenheim F to the Mosquito will be fun, offering a range of equipment and crew skill customizations to tailor to the preferences of almost every playstyle out there.

Good hunting!  :honoring:

There's more on the way!  I'm still working on the Intro to German Heavies and the Intro to American Heavies.

There's only one flaw in this analysis...

...The lack of a warning that the Mosquito can feel like a downgrade, especially from the lack of a rear gunner.

That's not all the Mosquito lacks in right now.  Her speed is borderline terrible, too.

It hurts that she can't rely on what she historically relied upon.

A combination of high altitude and speed.

At her cruising speed and altitude, by the time a german interceptor could get in the air she was already gone, and the german plane would run out of gas before it could catch up to her.

DICTA BOELCKE for WoWP
    1. Try to secure the upper hand before attacking.
    2. Always continue with an attack you have begun
    3. Open fire only at close range, and then only when the opponent is squarely in your sights
    4. You should always try to keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses
    5. In any type of attack, it is essential to assail your opponent from behind
    6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try run away from his attack, but fly to meet it
    7. When over the enemy's lines, always remember your own line of retreat
    8. It is better to attack in groups of four or six. Avoid two aircraft attacking the same opponent
