Been a while since i posted in here, but seemed like the right place.  So to confirm, there is no target lock any more?

That is one of the few changes I am behind as it gets rid of the country mile bulls eyes on maneuvering planes. Close to more realistic distances.

I used to have a handle on life until it broke off.

You can still lock on targets, but there's no more viewing window.

A certain skill depends on locking onto ground target but there's no ground target lock-on key, a workaround is to use the "lock whatever in center of screen" key to do it instead.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...

Snap to target is still there..  Select target is now V (ground, air, neutral or foe) and C (Threat/red enemy only) by default.

Close to more realistic distances?

In 1.9 while using a Spitfire I with 8 .303 I was hitting things at 500m, in 2.0 I'm hitting and killing other planes at 500 meters.

If this were more realistic I should only be able to reliably hit other planes at ranges up to 200 meters and be totally ineffectual at 300m and above.

This was what the RAF found out after their initial encounters over France and England.

    1. Try to secure the upper hand before attacking.
    2. Always continue with an attack you have begun
    3. Open fire only at close range, and then only when the opponent is squarely in your sights
    4. You should always try to keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses
    5. In any type of attack, it is essential to assail your opponent from behind
    6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try run away from his attack, but fly to meet it
    7. When over the enemy's lines, always remember your own line of retreat
    8. It is better to attack in groups of four or six. Avoid two aircraft attacking the same opponent

the 7.7mm has peeing trajectory, and without proper gun sight it would not even hit at 200m

Yep.

As I recall the RAF set the convergence of the Spitfires and Hurricanes down to 100 to 150m just after the results of their engagements over France came in.

Still pissed that three years in and this game still does not have a proper gunsight.

The only good thing is that idiotic Russian style artificial horizon is missing.
