I have noticed the same thing you noticed.  When cranking lots of lead into an ADA, I sometimes wonder why they are so hard to kill, while a red aircraft of the same type melts in the face of similar treatment.  I had a red Boomerang come into a cap area while I was flying my SpitV-DB605.  I downed that thing in about two seconds of gunfire, yet the ADA Boomerangs required a LOT of chasing and gun cooldowns.  Funny, they are the same airframe, and I can pull lead the same, and use the same deflection - why are the ADA more hardy?

I actually noticed that over an airbase when flying my Me-410 against Beaufighters.  The ADA heavies to two passes, while mere red heavies dissolved under the twin 30s.  Hmmmm.

if you are in a t6 game that's a boomerang with t6 health. That could be what's confusing

Exactly my line of thinking and experience. I was in a tier VII Yak-9U with a hub cannon and wing mounted machine guns, against P-40 ADA? Seriously doubt they are the same aircraft (with aggressive/evasive maneuvers) as seen by those in tier VI or lower.

Air Defense Aircraft are basically gimped versions of their regular counterparts. Most notably they're often slower and can't turn all that well. Maybe you're overcompensating your shots, making them miss? I say that because on my Tornado all the ADAs melt just as well, if not faster, than anything else

To my experience ADA are gimped in their AI, however their planes have massively increased performance.

I watched an A6M2 ADA catch an Me 262 pulling out of a pass on a GA and rip it to shreds :amazed:.

I have also witnessed an ADA Spitfire IX chase my friend in an F2H streaking by at 800KPH and gaining on him for a brief period of time, enough to crit his tail and one of his engines so the Hornets could zoom up to him and obliterate him.

I have also been outmaneuvered by Bf 109's in my Spit 14 no matter what I did and had to fly ultra-defensive until they got bored and attacked a teammate.

Huh, I did not know that actually, would explain why an ADA J4M had considerably more health than my J4M with a covering and protection expert on, it scales health for tier. Good to know, should help explain some of the "wth?!" moments I've had with ADA surviving.

I do fly Chinese aircraft a fair amount so... *ahem*

I even made a custom skin for my IL-10M!

So, double the hit points?  I mean, I get that the rules are different for ADA (that is obvious to the most casual of observers), but double?  I think the hitbox might also be different.  Maybe.  Does it scale to the aircraft that is doing the damage?  These have been T5/T6 matches, and I have been flying T6 planes.  It seemed like my Bf-109E was also taking a LONG time to knock down the ADA LFs.

Well, I can outturn every single Air Defense Aircraft I've encountered on my Tornado, and that thing's certainly not that great at turning. Hell, I hunt the heavy air defense aircraft on it for fun. I've even shot a few of them down on my GAAs when they just forget they should not stand still in front of my guns :playing:

Defense planes' HP seems to always be tier-based...you will be seeing Beaufighter with something like 250-300 HP...

...these guys seem to operate on the same aimbot principle that the AA gun uses...if you fly straight you're toast.

They don't seem to chase far out of their sector, though.

They don't chase far out, but they like to run away *very* far. I even saw an ADA fly out of a Garrison and get shot down over a Stronghold :teethhappy:

That's a new one to me.  The ones I chase always seem to circle back under the cover of AA.  Were the zones close together?  I also notice that the ADA will chase a heavy without a tail gunner, but break off fairly quickly against aircraft with a stinger.  Even if you slow down and try to lure them.  I have tried trolling across a zone in my FW57, and gotten some strikes, but not many hooked.

Well, today got two battles on my IL-40 vs a flight of tier X. Lost one to two IL-40Ps (2v1, nothing I could do) and surprisingly won one vs an IL-40P and a Yak-30 (2v2; the IL-40P died twice on a Command Center, which allowed me to steal the cap while he respawned, securing supremacy very early on). Even at lower tiers I often found myself vs a flight, once against two Bf 109s and another against two Mustangs. Everyone seems to have a friend :sceptic:

Hmm, unfortunate, however I still remember back when I was grinding IL-40 before I even got the engine or gunner I managed to topple an IL-40P flight alone. The thing is most people who spam T10 GA flights usually aren't the best GA players so they win by combining the efforts of two, rather than one single GA. Still, flights are everywhere really, somebody is bound to have a friend, it's just a matter of who you end up flying with or against.

Nah, different people. Though I did find someone who said they'll headhunt me if they see me while flying the I-17. The last thing I need is someone focusing me down on a plane that I can barely keep in the air

Despite the mic fading out during the recording of this video, I think it was a pretty good first battle in the tier VI Soviet Fighter, the I-210.

I just try to stay clear from most of the enemy and pick off targets of oportunity. My biggest gripe is that almost all the fighters I find are german or US, so I can't reach them without flying deep into yellow altitude. Oddly enough, while people claim that the battle takes place down-low, I have found that most fights end up fairly high up in the sky anyways. Even the bots are forced out of their optimal altitude on a regular basis. That's kind of why I decided to try the Mig line (currently planning to stop at the I-210), so I didn't have to worry about someone being too far up in the sky :izmena:

Oh, boy... There are two planes I couldn't wait to research the next one in the tech tree: the Bf-109Z (I never liked it) and the I-210 (plainly hated it!) I hope it is somewhat better in 2.0, you did well in that video (until you decided go head to head against a 410 :hiding:)
