I've been down with the National Guard helping out with Hurricane Harvey victims and been getting caught up with college/getting ready to ship out again this weekend. I haven't had a chance to play the game for quite some time (1 month worth of premium down the drain...).

So what exactly is 2.0? I don't need some dramatic description like 'the doom of WoWP', what are the additions that it makes and what is the good, the bad, and the ugly? Give me specifics.

It's quite different.  Much more like "Domination mode" in Warships, if you play that too..

Biggest PRO is improved graphics, sound, and effects..

Biggest CON is they changed the UI by taking out artificial horizon, and target lock screen.  It takes some getting used to.

They also took out the Lead Indicator, which I am fine with personally, being an avid wingshooter.. They added a "hit sound" which is kinda cool.

You can't control the Bots in the same way, which is frustrating at lower population levels. But, if this re-launch attracts a lot of new players, that may course-correct itself.

They also added tons more BOTS, as "Base Defense Aircraft"  Shoot them down and you capture the base.

Capture the bases for long enough time, and your team wins.

There's also bombers for you to fly to attack and capture bases.  I can't comment to much on those, I am a fighter main.

Give it a try, I think it is worth a look, since it is what we are going to get when the patch drops.

There's a lot of forum hate about it, (what's new) but I think they are trying to re-launch the game with a new feel, instead of just killing it.

Almost forgot.... Thank you for your service.  Those folks in Texas got hit hard.

2.0 is basically going to be mix of several different modes that will eventually be released in the near (soon) future.

Atm it has a competition mode which is royal garbage (like a bad version of War Thunder) but thankfully today we received news that it will not be our only playing option.

The graphics suck, sound is pathetic....looks like something being beta tested...a far cry from what we see today

Other modes will be coming from what we hear that will feature an actual pvp mode which should excite those who are sick and tired of these worthless bots.

2.0 so far has downgraded the gui  to the point of total trash so we can only hope the other modes are corrected along with the poorly developed competition mode.

Time will tell........right now it doesn't look very good but we can "hope" that these devs register our concerns and provide us with something that is worth our time.

I would provide of video of the competition mode but its so disgusting that I do not want to lose any followers of my you tube station (yes it sucks that much)

and get your behind back online...I have a job for you

Of course the teams will have more real players on each side when there are more players available. Full teams are 9 vs 9 players on each team with 4 bots per side.

Please check it out. Also leave us some feedback on your thoughts of the game.

Welcome back and thank you for your service as well!

2.0 is introducing the Conquest battle mode, which introduces strategic capture points that give the owning team a material advantage in battle outcome.

Conquest features respawns for the first half of the battle, the second half is sudden death Team Death Match like our current random matches.

The graphics are awesome; the detailing of ground level buildings and structures blows away what we see now.  The hangar is much improved, and aircraft and ground targets now explode with Hollywood-esque massive fireballs.

The current UI loses most of its utility; no more target aspect window, no more radar as we know it, no horizon bubble, etc.

I'm not a fan of the new in-game soundtrack, which while well done....features more dead air than a college radio show.

I can show much better than I can tell.  In the interest of public awareness I did a series of vids on the new patch, recorded during live play on the 2.0 CT server.  Here's the thread in the Feedback section where I have them listed.

Agree with otterwolf.     I like the new version.  Graphics improved.     There are bomber squadrons you can intercept.   Wish friends worked.   But still nice changes

For those crying.  You can still play your joust matches like now. But, if you don't pay some attention to the battle you may still lose.  Get over it.

What has bothered the long-playing pilots the most, Zak, is another change in the mechanics of flight and gun ballistics, and the removal of tactical aids like the target aspect window, radar and horizon bubble.  That list of players includes me.  I do see the potential that 2.0 has, but the massive sweeping changes to the game, all at once, are an over-reach.  The addition of a new battle mode is a good idea.  Changing the most basic aspects of the game at the same time is ill advised.  It was done several times before and it never worked out well.

Okay, consider my curiosity piqued.

Are bombers going to become a new class of fighters? That would be neat for me considering my grandad flew medium ones in both Europe and the Pacific.

And I'll be back to work Sunday morning at the earliest boss. Leaving early Fri morning to make sure a bunch of guys in a rifle competition don't shoot each other in the face while they're trying to show how much their skill means they don't have to adhere to basic firearms safety anymore.

I wouldn't call them "fighters" by a long stretch.  Of the three available for testing now two of them only have a single forward facing gun.  The tier III Blenny has a single mid-wing mounted 7.62mm MG and the tier VIII Ruskie has a single large caliber cannon mounted in the nose.  They are ill-suited for aerial combat.  Their best defense against attack is to fly at the upper limits of the map altitude where light fighters can't reach them and heavies will be the only thing that can reach them with effort.

The A-26B, being an attack aircraft by design, has a half dozen 50 cals in her nose, so is perfectly able to engage and shoot down enemy aircraft with her forward guns.  That's why she's an "A" designation, not a "B".

Overall, the new bomber class flies very much like the current attacker class, only in reverse.  Where attackers fly at extremely low altitudes, the bombers fly at extremely high ones.  The purpose both of them has is to loiter over target-rich ground object areas where they bomb the crap out of everything in sight.

Zak doesn't care he had a 47% win rate. I mean just pressing battle a person  should do better than that. This new mode was made for him you can suck and still win.

There is one question that I have for the new game when it comes out. What will happen to the planes that you have in your hangar, especially the premium ones. It was noted that when I started playing the tier twos in the tree had to be redone and the premiums that were available in the tree had to be re-bought, the ones that were earned as prizes for whatever event (SE100, ACDC2, Di6i) were not even in the hangar mix. Hopefullly, when this does turn over, everything that one has now will still be there.

You will retain all of your panes, exp, credits, and gold. Along with your crew and their skills.
