I'm trying too watch some of my replays but I get a message saying: This replay was recorded in a different version of the game and is not compatible with your current version.

Depends how old it is.  Replays from a while ago wont work anymore.

Current game version is 1.9.11.0, anything prior to that wont work.  We just had an update recently.

Mars is 100% correct on this.

That would be version 1.9.10....we just had an update, so your replays will not work unless you saved your old iteration before updating.

Unfortunately, it is due to the most recent update. replays generally only work on the version they were recorded on because they are not videos, but actual real-time rendered graphics of the battle.  There are 2 ways to keep a replay that you wanted around. The first is to keep an old version of the game client around, but that could end up taking a lot of storage fairly fast. the other would be to record the replay into a video file and save it that way.

Is that even possible? How?

I used to do it all the time, but don't bother as of late

simply copy the entire installed directory to another location, drag the replay file on top of the wowp application (not the launcher), or a shortcut to that application
