Ju.88A-4, III,/KG 30 "Adler Geschwader" VII Fliegerkorps, summer 1941.

Replacement for the default marine skin.

This is a semi-historical cross-over skin. The markings are from a bomber variant of the Ju.88 applied to the Ju.88P tank buster variant.

Of particular note is that III./KG 30 was assigned to X Kliegerkorps in the Balkans/Crete operating area but was detached to VII Fliegerkorps during the summer of 1941 operating over the Mediterranean theater. The yellow engine cowlings and rudder are left over from it's time in the Balkans/Crete, while the white fuselage band and wingtips signify the MTO.

The markings on the tail indicate 5 transports sunk and 2 warships damaged, also there are markings for 5 enemy planes shot down. I've found no specific details on these claims.

Installation:

There are 2 versions of this skin in the compressed file.

First is a Custom skin with all markings painted on, this version requires the files to remove the German markings found at HERE.

Second is a Default version which is intended to be used with the in game markings, nose art and emblems.

You can download the skin at: III_KG30.zip

For the record, my kids have been visiting Grandma so I have had a lot of extra time, which I have been taking advantage of. I have another skin ready to go for tomorrow as well.

You've mixed the English word alder with the German word Adler (engl. eagle).

Credit for the dirty areas goes to Persha, it is the default detail.dds file, which is very good on this plane.

The book I used as a source had it backwards, should have double checked.

I have found some interesting information. The plane I based this scheme on was involved in a joint attack with Heinkel He 111s of KG 26 on April 9th 1940 that damaged the battleship HMS Rodney and sank the destroyer HMS Gurkha, which would be represented by the 2 large silhouettes on the tail.
