So, how many planes do you have?

I have 28 at the moment and I think that's pretty much what I'll stay at until they give more planes away. I have at least one plane in every line except for the Yak-1M line.

At times I wish I had less planes because then that would mean more credit to put towards upgrading certain planes, but I though I'd try to get up to tier 5 in most lines. This helped me figure out which planes worked best for me. Now I've started to ignore many of my planes that I'm not as good at flying so that I'm not spending credits on all of them now that I'm trying to save up for more higher tier planes.

I think my goal right now is to get one higher tier plane of each type. So far I have a tier 8 fighter and multi-role and I'm working on getting xp for a tier 7 heavy and GA so I can upgrade them.

What are your thoughts of strategies for buying and upgrading planes?

I originally focused on learning the game with several of the low tier planes. Some lined I went higher with faster than other lines. Other lines i stopped playing for awhile due to the changes of that. The corsair line is an example of that. The f4u1 was my favorite plane pre multi role. Once it became a multirole plane, I didn't like it as much, so I stopped playing with it for awhile. I shot up the 109 line the quickest and was my first t9 and t10. I realized that if you learned how to fly other planes, you could figure out the strengths and weaknesses of each plane so you know how to deal with the other planes. At that point I decided to work down other lines at a somewhat equal pace. Some planes I played more because I liked it and I researched the next one faster. Most of my lines are level 7 and above except the zero line. I just don't like flying it. I honestly never tried counting all my planes, but I have a good amount.  The good thing is you can pay for hangar spots with tokens.

With the exception of 2 premiums (I-260 & J8M), if you can buy it ingame, I have it. Total of 222 in the hangar.

Most planes sit in my hanger and are never used. You really only need one of each class, in the three tier categories. So you can get away with twelve planes for all your dailies. I say experiment with them all to find out which suits your playstyle, then stick with the ones you fly well and are comfortable with. Toss the rest or keep them for show.

Most of mine are premiums with a smattering of tech trees. Have everything to tier six in the tree and working on tier seven. Having too many makes the anniversary missions hard to do as you have to pick and choose which ones matter most, especially if they are the lower tiers, then you have seven or nine wins per plane and you are accused of noobing (seal clubbing), but what else can you do.

Fighters: 80

Multirole Fighters: 39

Heavy Fighters: 19

Attack Aircraft: 19

Total: 157

I just keep adding hangar spaces and planes.

I can't count that high.

I sure as heck I got over 50 planes in my hangar...some of which are not even used (hell, it took me only 3 years to reach Spitfire XIV)...

Get as many as you can so you can complete as widest range of dailies as possible, from there comes tokens, and you can exchange them for more slots...assuming you don't pay (the contrary of which is ill-advised around this part) that is.

189.

Another question - which planes did you grind past, sell and never want to fly again?

I-210 and Skua for me.

Speaking of sell and never fly again...there's a reason to keep any and all planes you get: To collect the annual free EXP and premium time. The higher tier the better, and prem time comes from tier 10.

For me, there are a lot of those...Mosquito and Hornet, F7F, the Fw 190 family, and so on...

The more you fly a plane the better you understand how to use it.

Never give up. Never surrender...just ram the heck out of them.

Close to 170. All regular from tier III up and a lot of premium planes.

At least all were flown once a year. Maybe.
