To be fair to DREW, he could be spending in upwards of 32 grand a year for his software and such.

I am sure he is the kind of person with redundant software and such.

Myself I no longer run Corel and Adobe. Now it is just Corel.

I for one did away with a lot of redundant software years ago when OZ finally gave me a brain.

As for being able to play any games on work or business computer. Did that before and learned my lesson.

Call me paranoid, cynical or what ever you want. Not crashing another computer and having to replace it.

I even burned out a monitor once.

Running a Cintiq 27 QHD ...yeah not taking any chances again.

Father's Day will be here soon enough. Another simple laptop will be fine.

I haven't been in business, quite successfully, for almost 9 years by having redundant software. My initial investment on my primary software package was $27k + an additional $5k for 3 add-on modules. On top of that I shell out about $3500 a year in maintenance in perpetuity. That is just my solid modeling package. Autocad and a construction specific pdf suite adds even more.

Cintiqs are nice toys for art nerds. But, no horsepower for anything other than what they are intended for. For what those things cost, I can build an absolute top of the line PC.

I think they had an all in one, or it is what they call the Wacom Mobile Studio Pro, and there's the Cintiq Companion which looks like dual purpose tablet or use as monitor.  From the web site, what Lost has is the display that still requires a computer be connected to it, which could be anything, Mac or PC.  Like a 12-core workstation or top of the line PC.

Yeah, I am not design engineering a rocket ship or high rise complex with the exploded view and measurements.

I am just doing the " look, is this the idea you have in your head "

But even a computer will never replace the feel you get when your hands are around someones neck choking the.....

oops.. I mean paint brush is stroking across the canvas and as you place a happy little tree anywhere you want in your little world.

Holy crap.. I had no idea all that cash was for just the touch display. I always was under the impression it was an all-in-one. Dammmmnnn..

k... what software package costs $32,000?

Some of this stuff for 3D modeling and complete integration processes, including machinery and plant monitoring can be very pricey when customized for exact parameters. Our last engineering and plant major re-vamp in early 2016 was around 225K plus 360 a month per licensed seat, and we had quite a few seats.

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

I don't know why you think I'm BSing you. I could think of better things to [edited]you with.

The software I work on is actually very similar to what he mentioned. Yes, its very very very expensive. I took it on the chin because I am a single license owner. When you buy 20 licenses, you obviously get a far better discount. But, yes, the 32k figure is 100% accurate. Oh, and that was over 8 years ago. I honestly don't know what it is now for the initial investment.
