As you know, I've just recently started playing again after a year's hiatus, and I have a couple of questions about my 209A, which I would like to address to The Gallery.
Back when we were the lucky recipients of "the canon nerf", I pulled the 30mms off of a few of my German planes (most notably the 410 and the 209A), and started carrying all 20's instead.
During a recent flight in my 410 with Jetway, he mentioned that the impact of said cannon nerf has been ameliorated somewhat in recent months, and I noticed that I was taking three passes to kill an IL-2, rather than the customary 2 passes. I have already re-mounted the 30's on my 410, but the jury is still out on that move.
This brings me to my questions.
Should I remount the 30mm hub on my 209A?
I have enjoyed the maneuverability I gained from mounting 3x 20mms, but my 209A has Lightweight Airframe, Aircraft Polish, and Engine Tuning equipped, and my pilot has Eagle Eye, Engine Guru I and Aerobatics Expert skills. Is this enough to offset the loss in maneuverability from remounting the 30mm?
If I DO remount the 30mm, should I go all the way and mount the top 30mm, or settle for the 1st 30mm?
I notice a significant difference in rate of fire between the 1st and 2nd 30mm (200 vs 60). Is the extra DPS and range worth the much slower ROF and increased loss of maeuverability? (Remember, I'm not the laser-accurate crack shot that Bobo or Bubba is....)
Thanks for y'all's input. I value the opinions of MOST of you.
