Dear pilots,

Thanks for testing our new game mode, Conquest.

We need to know what you think about it and how it could be improved! Please answer the following questionnaire in the comments section below, honesty is obviously encouraged :)

We have also set up some specific sections where you can provide additional feedback and discuss the game mode with other testers

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.
  • Which aircraft types did you try?
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why?
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why?
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general
    • Controlling a rear gunner
    • The new bombing mode
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over?
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why?
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory?
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test?
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test?
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players
    • Graphics and visual effects
    • Music and sounds
    • Aircraft control
    • Spatial awareness
    • Shooting
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?

Thank you very much for taking the time to help us improving our game,

Thanks GP

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?  Still not sure of them all, at 2 days out
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them. Plane swaps, do not know all the rules yet so not sure if there are things that are missing, the guide is full of info, but not easy to read, could be shortened for easier use (I may try my hand at writing a better one)
  • Which aircraft types did you try? All
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? Bombers and fighters, needed to get used to the bombers, fighters are straight forward( point and shoot)
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? Ground attack and Multi-role, hard to see the bomb sight, unable to get into strafing mode
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following: yes
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general very powerful bombs, high altitude, very weak forward guns
    • Controlling a rear gunner there is no control over the rear gunner, lock the target and pull the trigger, it is more difficult to avoid enemies or maneuver the plane while using the tail-gunner, and the gun is to weak with low range low damage, most of the time better to leave the bot to do his thing
    • The new bombing mode Is fun to do, the control during bombing is well done
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular? it can get messy real fast, I have yet to have many human players in battles, so it is hard to say, was I WOWed by it, no, but there are some great parts, and others that are not so great, the bad parts are very pronounced Would be nice to see the list of players again, easier to give a shout out.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? Yes, but the hanger wait is horrid, at least 30- 40 seconds for full hanger control (compared to the current 5-10 seconds)
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? Always high, win or lose I was usually at the top
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? Depending on the map and the plane I was flying, would determine if I would go with my team or go on my own to cap a different objective
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? All of the graphics (minus the cartoon effect when I boost)
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? Tail gunner (under-powered), cartoon effect when boosting, no f key in bomber, controls missing some things (no strafing mode), Attack Aircraft and multi-role bomb reticule (part of strafing mode)
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle does not matter to me, useful but at a 9 min matches are hard to tell as I survive most matches
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players due to funky load screen, not much to say at start of match (would loose the arrow to hit the battle button) all my matches had other players, but seldom would see them in battle due to location, seldom paths would cross
    • Graphics and visual effects  9 (cartoon thing while boosting -1)
    • Music and sounds Turned off the music (I always do) sounds are  a 10
    • Aircraft control  2, feel like it is slogging through mud (without altimeter and angle of decent or climb hard to determine quickly, stall rates)
    • Spatial awareness 6, like the old mini map screen better, and the ability to turn them on or off in battle but only use them to find location on the map, miss being able to see other players in battle( on screen)
    • Shooting about the same, enjoy the no lead indicator, more fluid
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?  Back to Hanger load is slow, but everything else seems to work fine, no crashes or random kicks from server Fixed

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode? very quickly, game is TOO similar to another conquest game that won't be named
  • Which aircraft types did you try? P38
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • The new bombing mode BORING
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular? NO the game is so far from spectacular that an adjective doesnt exist to describe it
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? NO!
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? No way to tell with respawns
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? NOTHING
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? EVERYTHING
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle Respawn ruins the game
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players Lack of interaction, or even players names on planes SEVERELY detracts from game play
    • Graphics and visual effects can't see a difference
    • Music and sounds music is terrible but can be muted.  In-game narrative is childish a cheap sounding
    • Aircraft control AWFUL, existing game is orders of magnitude better than the test
    • Spatial awareness terrible, bring back the map and abilitiy to look around without turning
    • Shooting meh
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?  the hangar is SO SLOW that it was almost impossible to use.  Had to click any button several times

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?  Fairly quickly; I've played the competition and the two games are comparable.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.  Regularly I've seen the enemy team capture a point even though they were losing the airspace over said target.  My Pt 2 review video shows this happening.
  • Which aircraft types did you try?  All of them.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why?  Heavy fighters.  They are really the only thing left in the game that can effectively energy fight.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why?  Bombers.  You spend most of the battle doing nothing.  Then you drop bombs and do nothing while you wait to reload.
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general  Need some serious work to be made "fun".  Right now 90% of your time in control of one is idle time.
    • Controlling a rear gunner  An interesting idea, I would think this better suited to multiplayer control of a single aircraft than changing seats.
    • The new bombing mode  We need more variety than high altitude bombing.  Low altitude drops should also be possible, as well as torpedo runs on ships.  More variety is more fun.
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?  The game is beautiful.  However I can't call it good or spectacular because of the general feeling of "sameness" I am getting from flying different aircraft.  They all feel like they fly the same and their special traits, strengths and weaknesses have all vanished.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over?  Generally, yes.
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why?  I generally think my personal contribution is massive, because after the first two battles on test server, I have always been #1 rank on my team for points earned.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory?  My decisions and ability do NOT bring victory.  RNG, bot behavior, and placement of capture points on the map in relation to each teams spawn points is what determines this.  This MUST change if you want skilled player retention to be a thing when 2.0 comes out.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test?  Improved detailing of graphics, ground effects and Michael Bay Hollywood explosions.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test?  The realization that ALL of my fighters basically fly the same now.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle  Very good.  Keep this, as well as the cutoff on respawns for phase two Team Death Match.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players  What interaction?  There is none.  This is bad.  Very bad.  Give battle chat back as well as the opportunity to see who is on the enemy team.
    • Graphics and visual effects  Beautiful.  Don't change a thing.
    • Music and sounds  The music sucks; a return to the constant soundtrack we have now would be good, with a retention of the dynamics of the music changing as the situation of the battle evolves.  Dead air is a bad thing in radio, television and GAMING.
    • Aircraft control  Whoever decided that all fighters should fly basically the same should be clubbed like a baby seal.  Seriously, bring back the personalities of my aircraft!  It would make this all so much better!
    • Spatial awareness  What spatial awareness?  Are we even intended to have that?  If the developers want us to have spatial awareness they have a funny way of showing it by taking away all the tools we've had from version 1.0 to 1.9.* to maintain awareness of our surroundings.  Give us back the target aspect window, horizon bubble and all the tools we had in 1.9
    • Shooting  I've adapted quickly to not having a targeting reticle.  In general, the closer you are, the better your damage output will be.
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?  My computer greatly exceeds the required computing power to play this game, but I *still* suffer unacceptable delays when loading the hangar on initial game startup and when returning to hangar from battle.

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?     I still don't, there are too many and it is overwhelming.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them. There are too many rules and I simply am not interested in an over complicated game.
  • Which aircraft types did you try? P-12
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? Did not like flying at all. It is over simplified. It has apparently been brought down to a simplified level to appeal to children who are still developing hand eye coordination skills. The existing flight mechanics should be left alone.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? The one that I flew
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following: No
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general
    • Controlling a rear gunner
    • The new bombing mode
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular? Not impressive or spectacular at all. It It does not compare to the existing game in any way.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? No.
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? I have no idea. It is not engaging in any way and there is no connection to your teammates. You are essentially on your own shooting down planes that just seem to fly around waiting for you to shoot them down.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? There are no decisions or strategy involved in the game other than to shoot down enemy planes.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? I did not like any aspect of the game. It just seemed like a lot of planes flying around aimlessly.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? There are too many things to list. This iteration may appeal to children who want to see planes exploding but not to adults who will spend money on gold, premium planes, etc.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle Did not like it at all. Once you are destroyed you should no longer be in the match.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players There is no interaction. It just felt as though I was totally on my own in a pointless endeavor.
    • Graphics and visual effects Graphics do not seem any better than the existing game. The exploding plane effect looks ridiculous.
    • Music and sounds The engine sound is nonexistent until you add throttle. The bullet impact sound is ridiculous.
    • Aircraft control Over simplified and appears to be geared towards young children. The flight controls in the existing game are fine and should not be altered.
    • Spatial awareness Does not seem as good as the existing game. Difficult to tell when someone is on your tail.
    • Shooting This has been oversimplified with the circular aimpoint. It is a simple point and shoot with very little leading necessary and requires no skill. This also appears to be geared towards young children.
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game? No

Please make this version an option and not a replacement for the existing game. Thank you.

Honest feedback time! I really enjoyed the new content :)

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode? Took a while, had to reread the rules a few times to fully understand what does what.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them. After reading the new rules a few times over, not really.
  • Which aircraft types did you try? All the bombers, and all plane types with nation variation
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? Heavy Fighters and Attack Planes. With the new game mode, being able to hit ground targets hard and being able to hold your own in the air is essential. Attack planes now have a target rich environment that actually helps the team substantially more than before.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? Fighters. Bias really; I never really enjoyed playing fighters because they're too squishy for my taste. Also, new AA guns now melt fighters pretty quickly.
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general Interesting concept, however as they stand- a little bland. Currently-bots don't engage bombers at really high altitudes-at least not that I have seen yet. High-altitude bombing with no enemies firing at you can be a little dull.
    • Controlling a rear gunner One of the best new features IMHO. My only complaint is the current mechanic that the aircraft levels off when you enter manual mode. If the aircraft could remain on the current flight-path when entering manual mode, that'd be great.
    • The new bombing mode Visually, pretty neat. Gets the job done for high altitude bombing.
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular? When you get into the grit of a fight with mobs of friendlies & enemies going at each other, AA exploding around you and the music intensifying, the atmosphere is amazing. However that doesn't always happen, and when it doesn't it can feel blandish. Have a soundtrack playing throughout the match; i'm sure ya'll have amazing music over there at the studio.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? Yep. Once the hanger loaded of course; there is a really nasty lag that happens after a match where you stare at your aircraft awkwardly as the game catches up.
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? Being able to capture an objective alone (not a major one, one of the smaller ones). Having to soak up AA damage as well as few well placed shots from defender aircraft makes taking the objective all the sweeter, especially when you're team wins.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? Taking neutral objectives while the team focuses on another whenever feasible.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? The new game mode.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? All the negativity lol.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle Wonderful addition. It should be clarified however that once the 'Squall Line' hits, you as a player cannot respawn anymore. Took me a while to figure that out.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players Very few players unfortunately. Can be problematic since the AI tends to focus one objective and stay there if the enemy continues to feed. I've had several matches were everyone focused the larger objective and completely ignored the smaller ones-for the entire match.
    • Graphics and visual effects Absolutely gorgeous. A couple graphical bugs here and there, but overall very pleasing.
    • Music and sounds The music playing at the start and towards the end of the match are very nice, would be better if music played throughout the entire match.
    • Aircraft control Smooth, but a little oversimplified I think.
    • Spatial awareness Sometimes difficult. The lack of a proper radar can be frustrating, bring back the radar from the current game.
    • Shooting Comfortable. New mechanics take getting used to. Customizable sights would be great.
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game? Post match hanger lag. Nothing else really.

Some other tidbits:

  • On the Archipelago (Bombing runs variant), there is a graphical issue where the engine trails from the bombers get very glitchy.
  • Maybe add an actual weather effect when the 'Squall Line' hits so it makes sense, or change the verbiage that you will simply not be receiving reinforcements anymore.
  • Have the option to use the old HUD display please.(Radar as well).
  • Remove the aim-assist for Manual Turret control. Whats the point of manual if it auto locks the target for you? More rewarding if you have to actually aim to hit targets behind you.
  • Non-Bomber aircraft that can drop bombs need the old bombing view/target mode. (LSHIFT) I prefer the old bombing reticle, but meh, we need the ability to enter a bombing/strafing mode.
  • It would be useful if armament reload mechanics would include reload start after the first munition is dropped.

I really enjoyed this test mode, unfortunate to see so many people hating on it and not offering constructive feedback. I will continue to add feedback as I play more on the test server.

Best of luck WG, I hope to see more in the future!

How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode? Still working on it. Have not taken the time with work and other things to go through it in depth.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.
  • Which aircraft types did you try? All
    • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? Fighters. It seems to be the most popular especially at the lower tiers.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? Bombers. Take time to figure out how to work things out.
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general It is the same as any other type only different learning curve
    • Controlling a rear gunner Never tried to be truthful
    • The new bombing mode Quite straight forward
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular? Ghost to be truthful, it is a good idea but requires tweaking
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? Yes but there is one hell of a lag between the end of one and the aircraft to be returned to the hangar
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? It depends. The new scoring take getting used to. Sometimes you run amok, sometimes you are out quick.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? Stay with the flow, remember what you have to do and your part in the grand scheme.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? The addition of the separate mission that you can get the gelt.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? Respawns
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle No, this takes away the whole pleasure of the game. If you only have one life, you have to plan carefully. If there is respawn, then you have a tendency sometimes to take unnecessary risks because you have multiple lives.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players What interaction?
    • Graphics and visual effects Like the graphics and the visual effects. They did a nice job on them.
    • Music and sounds Try to turn those down as they take away your concentration.
    • Aircraft control Interesting when you get in a fur ball shows whether you have "the right stuff"
    • Spatial awareness One has to get in and out of "sniper mode" just like the other games. When you have it, you do good. Kind of like riding a bike, you have to be constantly aware of what is going on around you at all times.
    • Shooting The lack of the lead indicator makes this interesting.
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game? Having to find out that all the premium plane that were bought in the other game have to be rebought. When a plane reaches elite status the dialogue box does not close and you have to get out of the game to resolve the issue.

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode? After an hour of reading & re-reading the new rules.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them. No.
  • Which aircraft types did you try? A little bit of everything up to Tier VI.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? High Alt LFs Why? Have the most overall capabilities.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Low Alt MRF Why? Least capable with the new flight mechanics.
  • Did you fly bombers? Yes. If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general: A good addition. More variety is always better.
    • Controlling a rear gunner: Nice feature.
    • The new bombing mode: Fine, for what it is.
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? Heavily "arcade shooter". In your opinion, is the game spectacular? Not in any way other than graphically.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? After 4 days of testing, I'm done.
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Mixed. It's very hard to gauge. Why? The "math" behind it is very difficult to calculate.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? Depends on the individual game played and it's specific circumstances.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? The new maps & graphics.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? The new Flight Mechanics & GUI.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle: I can take it or leave it.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players: With so few testers online at any given time, there wasn't much if any to go on.
    • Graphics and visual effects: The best part of 2.0.
    • Music and sounds: I do not play with music on. Gameplay sounds were good overall with the exception of those related to engine boost.
    • Aircraft control: Due to the new Flight Model, Very Poor....Grade F.
    • Spatial awareness: Due to the new GUI, Poor....Grade D-
    • Shooting: I have no problem with the removal of the lead indicator, but it seems that leading a target is now, more or less the same regardless of gun type.
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game? Was dropped from match prior to the start of battle a few times but, that is no different than the current version of the game.

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode? Quite quickly having been involved in the first test.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them. not really
  • Which aircraft types did you try? All 4 types
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? None, they all feel bland and generic
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? See above comment
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following: Yes
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general Boring unless you use the A-26B at low altitude
    • Controlling a rear gunner Lock on and shoot, no skill required.
    • The new bombing mode  It works at altitude but is very boring
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?  A definate step backwards from what we currently have. The game is ok but not spectacular
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? Sometimes but generally no
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? In most cases it felt anything I did was pointless.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? My decisions had little to nop bearing on the battle, as someone else stated it's all about RNG before the battle even starts.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? I don't know, nothing really sticks out in my mind.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? All the planes in a specific class all feel the same, with no personality between them.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle don't care for it, create a zerg mentality as well as an opportunity for spawn camping.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players Had no interaction with any player at any time, fells like a single player game.
    • Graphics and visual effects Very nice overall but there is no feeling of speed, flying at 200+ mph at 200 feet should have a feeling of speed not like a ride in grandmas 1959 Rambler
    • Music and sounds I always play with music  off since closed beta, sounds are an improvement but hearing hits on the enemy plane should not be possible
    • Aircraft control  meh, I'll go into more detail in a different thread
    • Spatial awareness NONE!!! mini-map/radar is too small even when at it's largest setting to be relevant.
    • Shooting I had no issues adjusting back to no lead indicator having come from true flight sims, options for improved recticle would be nice,
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game? excessively long hangar load times, game locking up for 30 seconds to a minute if I window out. these two items alone stopped me from trying the HD client which I run exclusively on live.

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?  Fairly Quickly, although some of the rules are still a bit vague.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.  It seemed in one match I was allowed to change aircraft after getting destroyed, but I was not allowed to do so in any subsequent matches.
  • Which aircraft types did you try?  Bombers, fighters, multirole aircraft, heavy fighters, and ground attack.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? Probably fighters, because it was the most familiar to me.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? Heavy fighters.  The matches I did in them did not have the enemy bomber raids, so it was a free lunch for the bad guys.
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general There is a lot of potential to them, I would just like to see more types made available and possibly some playable heavy bombers.
    • Controlling a rear gunner This was a really nice touch in my opinion, and adds an added level of gameplay to the bombers and heavier aircraft.
    • The new bombing mode Fairly well done, I like how it was steerable from the bombsight screen.
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?  I wouldn't say "spectacular", but it has potential.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? Yes.
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why?  Massive, because I'm a raging egomaniac and narcissist.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory?  Probably using the fighter type, and focusing mostly on defending the already captured points.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test?  I like that we had a variety of aircraft available to test the mode in different playstyles
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test?  There were a few technical glitches during a few matches, but he main complaint was the rules to the new game mode were fairly vague.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle  A nice touch for the newer players.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players  About the same as with the existing WoWP.
    • Graphics and visual effects  Pretty good.
    • Music and sounds  I tend to play with the volume down low, so I really didn't notice.
    • Aircraft control I tend to use the joystick, but found that the bomber and gunner modes were better suited to the mouse.  Perhaps make the modes selectable in the options screen, so you can use the joystick for flight, and the mouse for turret and bombsight?
    • Spatial awareness I like that the range to the enemy has been added to the SA arrow on the display, but I miss being able to see what the enemy aircraft type.
    • Shooting I like that the aiming ring has been removed, allowing for more skill to be needed for the game.  Its also nice that the guns and cannons are now on a single cooldown scale.
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?  One or two matches the game seemed to glitch a little bit, aircraft slid sideways, target aircraft accelerated away faster than it should have.  I suspect that it was more related to the internet connection.

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?

easy enough to grasp the concept.

  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.

nope

  • Which aircraft types did you try?

all types

  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why?

i like the multi role aircraft best, they just fit well with my opportunist play style where i give equal attention to air and ground targets

  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why?

i dont really have a least favorite plane type

  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general

i like the bomber play style and wish there were more bombers starting at tier 3 and higher

    • Controlling a rear gunner

rear gunners need wider arcs of fire

    • The new bombing mode

i like how i can still control the plane while in bombing mode

  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?

good atmosphere, needs more players per team, and if not enough players more bots that follow players instead of going off on their own and end up being useless, bots could help fill the gap between number of players and good games

  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over?

sometimes, sometimes i wanted to change planes, i also want the ability to have a second choice plane if i do poorly in my first choice

  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why?

my personal contribution varies on allied player skill, usually i can take control of a single neutral point or enemy point by either killing aircraft or destroying ground targets, sometimes i get killed by collision with other aircraft, or the ground.

  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory?

making sure we had a control point instead of fighting over the only one the enemy takes.

  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test?

free plane of new tiers, the XP grind is my least favorite thing in any wargaming game, i think the XP rewarded needs to scale up with each successive tier instead of being a flat reward system

  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test?

the ground,

  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle

want more respawn time in each battle or at least a chance for the squall line to disiapear before the end of the battle

    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players

not enough

    • Graphics and visual effects

have to play on lowest settings so not much to say

    • Music and sounds

good

    • Aircraft control

no noticable difference from previous version

    • Spatial awareness

getting better

    • Shooting

guns over heat too quick on some planes, also need a way to adjust aim distance based

  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?

not yet

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode? - A day of playing, reading the very long manual, but mostly from observation.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them. - Is there any way at all to push enemy supremacy bar back?
  • Which aircraft types did you try? - All.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? - Heavy fighters. Being able to go between destroying low-flying attack aircrafts and high-flying bombers is a boon to have playing with bots that are not adapted to the mode.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? - Attack Aircraft: Guns are nigh useless against land-based armored targets. Ordnance also takes as long as MR/Heavy fighters to rearm and harder to aim with.
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general - Plays so differently from other classes, that cannot help but wonder if 2.0 was built *around* the inclusion of the bomber class. Without reloading ordnance bombers would become a big target once it has dropped all bombs unless hiding at the very ceiling of wherever it could go.
    • Controlling a rear gunner - Is a misnomer, as all you do is manually ordering your gunner to shoot bursts at a specific pursuer or targets...a manually activated Designated Target skill without having to spend four points for.
    • The new bombing mode - Probably built especially for bombers because if used by attack aircraft they run the risk of crashing very easily. Heavy fighters should be allowed to use bombsight mode at least.
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular? - Indifferent.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? - As much as I wanted to, it is deterred by picking the wrong tier and having to wait for the unoptimized hangar to load before picking another plane, and then I go into the wrong range again.
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? - Low to medium. Victory is heavily dependent on supremacy and there is no way to decrease it in a noticable amount once it start to accumulate. Team going to the wrong place at beginning or constantly losing sectors by dying over them en masse would foretell defeat from afar. Meanwhile, being a lone plane keeping a critical sector defended may be enough to push towards victory. Conquest mode seems to emphasize teamwork over individual performance, but with teams provided in bots it proves difficult to work with teams that circle over one sector after securing it leaving the other team to steal everything else, among many scenarios.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? - Intercepting enemy NPC bombers while friendly counterparts doing their job , defending captured missile bases while they do all the capturing, finishing off enemy planes after Squall Line take effect. Helping bots mopping up defense aircrafts to capture a sector quickly.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? - Improved 3cm cannon sound. Probably one of the few things 2.0 done right.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? - Flight mechanic that leave all planes feeling the same and no uniqueness remaining.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle - An attempt at forcibly preventing rampages that would end a match in 3 minutes or less.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players - No hangar chat means no connection to other online players. Cannot give order to bots as radio command turned into radio information.
    • Graphics and visual effects - Indifferent; perhaps just more burden for hardware to bear. Being unable to zoom in or out during free camera makes it hard to appreciate all the effort put into graphics. It is as if all efforts went to the premium hangar, which has motorcycles running around, fuel truck driving, planes taking off, and people working on stuff...all while being unoptimized.
    • Music and sounds - Music is barely noticeable but there is a lot of dead time unlike existing music, and indifferent to sounds...save for one thing - 3cm cannons' sound, which is greatly improved compared to the existing one in 1.9. The new music is not as appealing compared to the old ones and appear to not be dynamic either due to large dead time.
    • Aircraft control - Most aircraft feel the same behind the controls with almost no distinctive characteristics (One of the few that remains is that the XF5U retains its 60kph stall speed). No clear indicator of optimal speed is confusing, and no pitch up/down degree indicator make level flight almost impossible to achieve via steering alone. Yawing hard turning aircraft all the way to its profile without dropping down is strange.
    • Spatial awareness - Being unable to zoom in or out make free camera control less free. Having lock-on but no further information (i.e. a screen for the locked target) lead to more confusion than assistance.
    • Shooting - For some reason the very large guns got more accurate under high ping in the new version. The shooting appear much more simplified than 1.9, which make spraying and praying actually more effective. No lead indicator is a small obstacle to overcome and is easily get used to.
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game? - Unoptimized hangar make switching planes much slower, game stutters occasionally in higher tier maps like the converted Observatory, and once crashed to desktop.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?
Pretty quickly, you provided plenty of documentation and the new mode is pretty simple
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.
    Nah
  • Which aircraft types did you try?
    All
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why?
Light fighters/heavy fighters, killing enemy aircraft seems to have the most impact on the game
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why?
Multirole fighters, they got nerfed with 2.0 and they suck, they're flying deathtraps. They're not fast enough or climb high enough to intercept bombers or high alt fighters, they don't turn well enough to kill mid or low-alt aircraft, they suck at everything and are useless
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    I did
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general
Love it, more planes = always a good idea
    • Controlling a rear gunner
Very cool, but I noticed some things. My flight mate could not see when my rear gun was firing, it's not visible to other players. Maybe an optimization choice? Also the il-2(mod) at tier 5 has a too narrow field of fire, it had a wider field of fire in 1.9. A nice addition overall. I don't think it should be auto-aim though
    • The new bombing mode
Looked great, was fun but bombers don't seem like they make much of an impact. At least I had a good time. Allow ground attack planes like sturmoviks to have bombsight mode!
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?
It's loud and confusing, WG broke a lot of things with 2.0 that didn't need to be changed
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over?
Not really, the more I tested the more I was disappointed
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why?
I felt that I had 0 impact, I was always top score on my team and almost never died, yet battle outcomes were seemingly random
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory?
The best way to impact the game seems to be shooting down massive amounts of enemy planes, preferably over capture points
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test?
    Graphics and sound
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test?
The horrid new flight model and oversimplified gunnery, how you ruined multirole fighters
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle
I rarely died. A necessary evil, I guess, to make unskilled players happy. Make a cool storm effect happen when the squall line rolls in, as it is now it's just a boring text message
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players
0 interaction, felt like a single player game, was creepy
    • Graphics and visual effects
Really nice! guns, explosions, etc. are great. However...
Don't have planes constantly explode when they die, it seemed really silly. Have a variety of different plane deaths/animations. Also there's no real feeling of speed. Make it more evident to the player if you're braking real slow or boosting at very high speeds.
    • Music and sounds
Sound was great, but the music and announcer voice sucked
    • Aircraft control
TERRIBLE, all planes felt the same, RESTORE the old flight model and physics!!!
    • Spatial awareness
TERRIBLE, the UI shows almost nothing and you never have any idea what's going on. The camera is too zoomed in! Enable camera control and directional view angles.
    • Shooting
Removing the lead indicator was a nice touch, but everything has insanely increased muzzle velocity, making shooting too easy. Make shooting more difficult and bring back SKILL. Also allow bombers to have sniper mode! There's no reason they shouldn't have it, all planes with guns in real life had gunsights! It's hard enough to shoot down planes with a bomber as-is, you don't need to penalize bomber pilots any further
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?
Constant lagspikes and loss of control, drifting or lagging aircraft. At least the game never crashed

Was not easy to understand without reading instructions
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.  Did not see any rules
  • Which aircraft types did you try?  Fighters and Jets.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why?  Frankly, did not like any.  Felt the response was very bad.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why?  All the same
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:  Did not try.
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general
    • Controlling a rear gunner
    • The new bombing mode
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?  Did not like it, it is definitely not spectacular!!
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over?  ??????
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why?  Very little.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory?  None
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test?  The Graphics
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test?  The game play and aircraft response.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle  Like
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players  Did not like
    • Graphics and visual effects  Good
    • Music and sounds  like sounds, music in-necessary
    • Aircraft control  Very bad
    • Spatial awareness  ???
    • Shooting  OK
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?  Yes, could not set up Controls the way I like.  Could not adjust boost and it stayed on all the time
  •
  • Overall I do not like the format and will not play the game.  I would suggest that if you move forward with this that you add it as an option to Warplanes and not replace it..

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode?  Never - I still don't get them.  Destroy most of the ground targets but still lose the base because??? no idea.
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them.  How do capture points work.  If I destroy 5/6 ground objects how does that get trumped by one red plane killing a neutral plane.
  • Which aircraft types did you try?  Bombers. Ground Attack
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? Ground Attack - they felt like they were doing damage to ground targets.
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? Bombers - 4 bombs on target do not take out a single ground target that I could take out in one pass in my GA fighter.  There is no feedback on successful bomb hits.
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general - YAY!
    • Controlling a rear gunner - YAY, more positions please!
    • The new bombing mode - YAY, but boo on the lack of hitting any target feedback
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular?  The game is a cheap feeling arcade shooter.
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over?  Only to see if the next type of plane was a "better" experience.
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why?  I felt like I wasn't contributing.  I could spend 5 minutes killing ground targets just  to have that wiped out by 1 enemy plane.
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory?  Not to get shout down.  As a GA role felt pretty useless.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? Bombers are in-game.
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? The game sucks compared to what I played way back in Beta.
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle - it's ok, but maybe a plane rotation ala War Thunder.
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players - they were good - quite quiet
    • Graphics and visual effects - they seem to be over-done - when a plane is destroyed it has a huge explosion
    • Music and sounds - I didn't notice.
    • Aircraft control - felt arcadish
    • Spatial awareness - needs basic flight feedback like altitude, etc more prevalent.  I couldn't tell my altitude, etc.  Could not look around without turning the plane.
    • Shooting - every round feels like a tracer - how about less tracers?
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game?  None.

Thank you very much for taking the time to help us improving our game,

  • How quickly did you gain an insight into the rules of the new game mode? Farley quickly but still do not fully know everything, been playing for several days now
  • Are there any aspects in the rules that are still unclear to you? If yes, please specify them. Unsure what they are sometimes I just don't know whats happening I just keep playing till I win or loose, also don't know why I run out of planes in battle ... how many does one get and can I change plane type mid battle?
  • Which aircraft types did you try? All
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play most of all? Why? Bomber, because of the new planes and I want the B- 17 Bomber!
  • Which aircraft type did you like to play least of all? Why? Only by a very small margin did I not like the Multi role fighters, because the proximity to land and land objects is off need polishing, and the new Turret feature
  • Did you fly bombers? If yes, please describe your impression of the following:
    • Bombers as an aircraft type in general  Excellent, allot of fun, want more bombers implemented I will gladly buy premium Bombers.
    • Controlling a rear gunner I would like more control over the turret the auto aim makes it feel like its not all me using the turret but I really like it!.
    • The new bombing mode great love it
  • How would you assess the general atmosphere of the game? In your opinion, is the game spectacular? Yes the game mechanics still feel very beta but if it will work like the original World of warplanes as it is right now it will be spectacular in my opinion!
  • Did you want to join a new battle once a previous battle was over? Yes! yes! yes!
  • How big do you think your personal contribution to the outcome of a battle was? Why? usually I was a big contributor, because the after battle stats say so
  • Which of your decisions do you think helped bring your team to victory? Using My plane for its intended purpose and only when necessary or possible dog fight or defend allys
  • Please specify briefly what you liked most of all during the game test? The new bombers and all bomber features
  • Please specify briefly what you liked least of all during the game test? handling of planes feels different in new mode than in World of War Planes seems less responsive and I tend to stall more or strafe more instead of banking side to side
  • Please describe your first impression of the following aspects of the game:
    • Opportunity to respawn in the same battle it sometimes seems to take to long
    • Interaction (or its absence) with other players I had very little communication with other payers, only because I was to busy enjoying the game
    • Graphics and visual effects Great love it! just waiting for it to be more polished like World of War Planes also I would like better 3rd person view control such as zoom in more to my plane.
    • Music and sounds also great love it!
    • Aircraft control needs to feel more responsive also more info on the orientation of the plane and weapons systems
    • Spatial awareness if possible I would like more zoom in or out in my plane it feels to close to the screen
    • Shooting its very hard core since I don't see any aim assist but I still like the challenge don't know about anyone else since I am a veteran of World of War Planes
  • Did you face technical (or any other) difficulties when playing the game? only that the post game stats take long to load and it seems to freeze the game until it loads

Much better Boot up today, after the latest patch.  Overall I prefer it to the vanilla World of Warplanes.

Good Job :teethhappy:
