I had some success with Adobe Illustrator.  It cant open DDS directly, but I can export the file into a PDF format using vector graphics.  Then I can import the PDF into Photoshop and convert to DDS.  Seems like a bit of work, but for things like line work and getting thing to line up I think would be a lot easier.  Rather than repaint a line, you can just grab and drag the end, or add a vertex or change it to a curve... It has a lot of potential I think.  Here is some scribbles I did just to see if the export/import works.

Yes!  Why draw with Lite-Brite when you can use Spirograph!  Ok, not a perfect analogy....  Well executed Marsco!

edit:  I thought PS could open .ai files?  Or did you try a copy/paste between the two?

* Just tried copy/paste on my Macbook and you get 4 choices, first one creates a new layer, and then flatten the image to rasterize...or not...I'm not that up to date on these tools.

Sweet! Now that you got it figured out & all the right tools you will be able to finally repair that #4 skin you've been working on so hard.

Some people like it, some people dont.  but the #4 skin isnt required to play the game.

I didn't try to open the Ai file, but will try tonight.  It eliminates the a couple of steps.  Thanks!

Not sure about Windows/or if that's what you're using, but the Open dialog didn't have Illustrator .ai listed, which I swear older versions had.  I tried various EPS formats, since it's all postscript based, but ultimately, it looks like the format for PDF works fine when opening the file.  But ya, was trying to save you steps.

Created the fauz jogs in the wings by getting applying a mirror like finish to the areas... just the tops for now, wanted to see if it would work.

It is still a work in progress... I took on a few other projects that have taken up my time.  I am down to the final details though, need to do the 'walk' lines and a few small warning labels here and there.

I Hink I'll finish it after the current tournament.

FInally had some time to get back to this skin, put some finishing touches on it last night.  Need to tweak a few of the lines and do more research on the tags found around the plane.

Thinking of releasing it on Friday in preparation for July 01 - Canada Day.  This year Canada turns 150.  Will try and fly a special live  Twitch stream flying planes with Canadian skins.
