OK, noob ammo question.... I only fly tier 1 biplanes at the moment if that matters.... Should I be using the basic, free ammo with my planes (standard) or the first step up to "universal"? What's the difference? I guess the confusion comes from not being able to see a comparison like you can with the other types, HE, AP, etc where they have ratings listed for how effective each round is and for what purpose. There is nothing like that for the "standard" type ammo. So, how does standard ammo compare to universal ammo as far as effectiveness?

If you can afford universal use it, if you find you are always out of coin stay on standard

Universal will crit and cause more fires.

Stick with the standard free ammo for now, once you get into higher tiers & you are not credit poor go for the universal as it give you more chance of causing critical hits & fires.

Never pay gold for ammo as it is just not worth it.

Standard ammo is like your basic slug that you can purchase at any cheap ammo retailer.

It is good for hurting people but but the lower gain may not leave an exit would.

Universal is like a higher grain hollow tip that will leave a nasty exit wound.

If you are working on credits use the free ammo.

If you don't care and want better killing power then use the Universal.

Standard & universal ammo does the same amount of damage, universal just increases chance of crits & fires.

I really don't know if this blog is up to date. I either use standard or universal.

Randy, when you climb up the tiers universal for cannons can become really price this is why I stick to standard.

Standard ammo is free from tier 1 all the way to 10...Personally, I'd recommend using universal ammo for smaller guns and leave the bigger guns to use standard.

At tier 1, your income is meager so if you don't have a good amount of silver to fall back on you can stick with standard and do just fine.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

I have run all three kinds (standard, universal, gold) for a considerable amount of time each.

I stopped using gold because it upset MARS. No not really. Gold ammo significantly increases fires and changes of critical damage, and seems to cause more damage, but not worth the money.

I think standard ammo is sufficient; however, universal does increase the chances of fires and critical damage.

Thanks for the link, Red Spartacus. Very nice detailed run-down of ammo types.
