Here is a link to the tournament set-up.  I'm still in the process of updating the final rule set.

http://forum.worldof...039#entry669039

Registration Deadline January 29.

First Round of Battles Thursday Feb 02/2017

  1. This is NOT a clan only event. Rosters may be comprised of clan members or non-clan members or a mix of the two.
  2. Team Captains will need to submit their team rosters via this thread by posting below.
  3. The post from the captain MUST contain:
    1. A team name;
    2. The in-game name of all members, designate a Tam Captain and Co-Captain.
  4. The captain MUST register the team HERE http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/syyWwMDLLM  As well to complete the process so if the captain is unable to check PM's on the forums he/she should not be the captain. ONLY THE CAPTAIN has to go register.
  5. Once the captain has registered fully that team is considered complete and ready for seeding.
  6. After registration has closed NO CHANGES CAN OR WILL BE MADE TO THE TEAM OR ROSTER.
  7.  A copy of the team roster will be posted by administration in a locked thread for viewing purposes by everyone but with no ability to edit. This roster should be posted within 24 hours of the captain completing registration.
  8. Only the First 64 Teams will be accepted.
  9. Any team whose post is after the close of registration will automatically be denied access to the tournament.
  10. Any post that is edited after the close of registration will result in that team being denied access to the tournament.
  11. Once teams are final, brackets will be selected by randomizing teams through random.com.
  12. The role of the team captain and co-captain is to be the main and initial contact for all team communications. It is the responsibility of both the home and visiting teams to be aware of each others team captains for all communication including making contact in order to coordinate the room setup and battle schedules. In the event a team captain is not able to perform these duties a temporary team captain can be assigned. It is the responsibility of the team captain to notify the opposing team of the new temporary team captain's contact information.

What's the actual format of the battles? How many on each team? Any restrictions of planes or plane types?

OK here is the final setup

Map: BAY

Tier: 8

Duration: 15 Minute battles

Hidden enemy aircraft in training rooms

Restrict heavy fighters to Max. 4.  Other than that, no Plane restrictions

10 v 10 battles

2 battles per week.  Thursday and Saturday night battles

Two Stage Double Elimination

All Teams will move forward from round robin

Each round will be determined by best of 5 battles.

These don't match polls exactly, but I am giving weight to some of the votes made by clan leaders as I assume they know how their CLan will be able to participate, as well I broke up Fri and Sat battles to Thur - Sat battles just to have a day in between.

Thanks for the input everyone

I was applying WG common sense tho.  Thanks for the feedback.  It looks like you will be able to fill a roster of names, the trick is now to be able to get them all to play at the same time.

Guys,

Take it easy on the guy trying to give everyone here a good time. What did you have before he started this? Yeah, nothing. Do you seriously value nit-picking an ideal timeline/rules more than having a chance to go against a team of humans? Sometimes the levels of maturity around here make me wonder how some of you got to the age you did... This is why we can never have anything nice around here. It's like everybody's a baby. Man up, team up, and have some fun.

Cheers!
Glenn

Yes & the comprehension level of some others makes me wonder how they cope with putting their underwear on the right way. Can you please explain where you see anybody in this thread nitpicking timeline/rules?

Are you going to be the only person to officiate this tournament Mar?

So far yes, but any reasonable people willing to be judge and jury are welcome to help out.  So far, nobody has come forward.

Along the same line of questioning, I also intend to participate if I get the chance.

FYI I have updated the Challonge bracket to illustrate how the two stage double elimination style will work.  Check this out:

http://challonge.com/2K17_ALPHA_TEST

Based on 10 teams, and 2 rounds per week, the round robin stage will last 9 rounds and take up to 4.5 - 5 weeks.  From there the standings from the first stage are used to seed the bracket for the second stage.

The second stage will take a minimum of 8 days, based on 2 rounds per week another 4 weeks.  Note there may be a 9th day required to determine Supreme Champion if the winner of the losers bracket is able to come back and win in the finals.

Depending on the number of teams that sign up, this event has the potential to keep us busy for about 9 weeks.  Once all teams are signed up, we can have a meeting with all Captains, if all agree maybe a 3rd day can be atted to the number of rounds per week to shorten the overall event, or the number of rounds during round robin can be reduced, but it would be nice to face each team once.
