Thanks all, a link will follow.

Looks iffy as it's a SD skin not HD.

Don't look to bad at all. Try increasing the resolution, the Spit V is 512x512 in SD, if up it to 1024x1024 and it should look better, also will allow you to work with more detail. I personally work with a 2048x2048 resolution on the Spitfire I and V, this way I can paste a copy of the detail.dds texture over the top of everything else and see where the panels and other details are at, makes it much easier to work with. But that only works if you are using a program that can work with layers.

Great start, always nice to see people trying their hand at skinning.

Thanks hawkeyededic. I work with gimp that employs layers so I will up the res to 1024x1024. This skin business is really cool and I hope to produce some real cool stuff and even clan-specific ones!

Once I am happy I will provide the link for everyone to download

Hi all, okay here is the rework of my panther/blood spatter skin for the Spitfire V (U.K. tier 6)

https://www.flickr.com/photos/30872512@N04/albums/72157674814995991

More importantly, here is the link to my DDS file that WOWP can read and apply to your game for this specific plane: https://www.dropbox....hangar.dds?dl=0

This is how to get you going with the skin (simple process: do not be scared!):

- Navigate to this path on your PC: C:\Games\World_of_Warplanes\res\packages\vehicles_airplane_6 and extract the contents of this vehicles_airplane_6.pkg using WinZip, WinRAR, RAROpener or similar, to a destination on your PC;

- Once extracted find the "vehicles" folder inside and cut this to the following destination (or similar): C:\Games\World_of_Warplanes\res_mods\1.9.6.0;

- Now download the .dds skin file from my Dropbox link;

- Cut/Copy this .dds file from the location you downloaded it to;

- Navigate on your PC to this semi-familiar path (or something similar): C:\Games\World_of_Warplanes\res_mods\1.9.6.0\vehicles\airplanes\england\GB23_SM_SF5

- Paste my GB23_SM_SF5_hangar.dds skin file into the "GB23_SM_SF5" folder and replace the existing DDS file named the same as mine!

- Now your Spitfire V will look like the screenshots above when you select "x" paint scheme/no paint scheme.

- If you still want concealment bonuses for winter, summer etc. but, want to use my skin just take my GB23_SM_SF5_hangar.dds and make copies in the "GB23_SM_SF5" folder under .../res_mods/... changing "GB23_SM_SF5_hangar.dds" to "GB23_SM_SF5_marine.dds", "GB23_SM_SF5_woodland.dds" etc.

- So remember the .../res_mods/... folder overrides the skins in original .../res/... folder!

- If you want the original paintwork/skins back just delete the stuff in .../res_mods and all should revert back.

Enjoy and please provide feedback.

Nice work BTW.

I have to say this is the coolest non-historical skin I have ever seen. I don't personally like the Spit, but if you made something for the Venom, P-40, Lagg 3-34 or FW-190 tier 5 I'd pick them up in a second!

Thanks a lot Espresso!

I am planning on focusing on the more popular planes like the ones you mentioned.

Everyone, I just want to add this link to a "script" folder you would also need to download and place in the .../res_mods (see earlier post). This is needed to remove the nation designations like wing and fuselage numbers and other decals otherwide these will cover the art of my skin:

This skin will be added to my next build as Hangar base skin.

Hawkeye currently has 1 as desert.
