You don't have to tell me about "Not gud plen." Kind of like when my wife posted pictures of our vacation to the beach. I thought they were private!

Allies win tonight by ~35,000. At this rate, Axis would need greater than 156,000 starting bonus to have a chance at winning.
If the patch resets the event to zero wins for both sides, it may take several days to figure out if the handicapping is working as intended -- by which point, the event will be half over.

The last moment.
Took them long enough to get handicap working...and given that it runs for almost 3 hours now, there's still a good chance the Allies can catch up with their fleet of GAs and bot-only battles that does not count towards war efforts...

Today Axis won by timeout at 3 hours...last I saw the score, it was a close one.
...and 918 players are on at one time...

Another record pop going back to early 2015!
Will we hit 1000 tonight?!

Axis won. Max of 939 players online, which is yet another population record all the way back to March 2015.
I think we can safely say that this event is a success, at least in the short term. I was hoping for maybe 800s and we are getting into the 900s. Before the event, 500s. Not saying it will be maintained after the event so don't bother jumping on me.
When a game is setting almost 2-year pop records though, you can't label the event anything but a success, at least for now.

Agreed. The Axis/Allies War/Peace meta-game has also generated buzz about Italy ...

Too bad it is only for 3 hours
If they had widen the hour gap I am willing to bet the count wouldn't be so high
This event forces people to play at a certain time, so you get a higher peak. But again it's very brief and doesn't carry the momentum. The pop falls right off 15 min after the event is over

All true...but it's nice to have a few hours with lots of humans on.

I agree, if they are going to do Axis vs Allies type of events like the current Japanese Threat, they need to give the Axis more planes so it's not such a lopsided fight.
The Italian air force was competent and could be included in the tech tree to help balance things out. Also might consider the Bulgarian air force and Finnish air force planes since they were also on the Axis side.
Another thing they could do is "Vichy France" where you could play French planes on both Allied and Axis sides. That would be an interesting twist.
