Broke the yaw control on my Logitech 3D, second one I have broken. Plane kept moving to the right. Lost many battles because plane didn't want to go left. I need advice on a sturdy joystick. I bought the Thrustmaster Flight Stick but I don't like it as much as the 3D. I read that some of you use the Saitek x52 (is this a good choice?). Can't afford a Warthog. Can't play this game with mouse (the ground is a magnet and I am steel)

Suggestions please.

And I thought if you kept playing with it you would go blind,

No one told me you could break it.

How long has your logitech 3d's lasted? I've had mine about a year with no issues so far.

The X-52 is extreme overkill for this game and also uses a huge amount of desk top real estate and Saitek's quality reputation is pretty low these days. Personally I would stay with the 3D Pro and plan on replacing it every year or two.

I'm on my 4th Logitech Extreme 3D Pro. If they made a sturdier, all metal version for 3 times the price, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. At this point, I've been using the same stick in this game for 4 years. I'm not up for learning a new stick & remapping stuff. These are good for 6-12 months of pretty hardcore flying for $30. It's frustrating to have them go bad, but if you can't fix it, $30 ain't bad to not have to relearn anything.

Good Luck.

:honoring:

My newest one is 3 years old and my older one I used with MSFS on a pentium2 and it still works.

pull out your tiny tools

if the pilot's good, see, I mean, if he's really..sharp, he can barrel that baby in so low [he spreads his arms like wings and laughs],

you oughtta see it sometime, it's a sight. A big plane like a '52. VRROOM! There's jet exhaust, fryin' chickens in the barnyard.

Two weeks ago I bought my 3rd Logitech 3d joystick.

I do indeed see the yaw control go broke as one of the first axis (when I calibrate). But I don't care,  as I have rudder pedals.

And somebody says the Saitek X52 is overkill.

Yeah, that makes the X52 look like an early Nintendo controller. That is also aimed at non-combat flight sims.

Man, I can do something like this, but I never could choose what is my preferred cockpit. I think I would like to have

51D cockpit or

Yak-3

But none of them has HUD

And I don't know what to do to have total imersion. I wouldn't like to use a Oculus Rift, but I would like to have full 3d view you know?

I tried once a years ago to write a library to have 3d view using Unreal tournament as test, but man took a lot of time and was not good.

Get the 3D Pro at Best Buy and spend the 8 bucks on the warranty and simply return it when you feel it going south and or right before the warranty is up..

3d pro, unless you are willing to spend more for a CH fighterstick.

But you'll need to find another way to control the rudder.

DICTA BOELCKE for WoWP
    1. Try to secure the upper hand before attacking.
    2. Always continue with an attack you have begun
    3. Open fire only at close range, and then only when the opponent is squarely in your sights
    4. You should always try to keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses
    5. In any type of attack, it is essential to assail your opponent from behind
    6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try run away from his attack, but fly to meet it
    7. When over the enemy's lines, always remember your own line of retreat
    8. It is better to attack in groups of four or six. Avoid two aircraft attacking the same opponent

I used Saitek X 52 HOTAS from my very beginning, than X52 Pro HOTAS-which just broke a week ago. Setup was pain in..., it has analog sensor, I needed some glue lol but, investment was worth every penny. Will try upgrade on Saitek X 56 Rhino, although I just found Thrustmaster T 16000M FCS HOTAS. It looks and $ounds very good.

If you plan to buy joystick I would suggest to spend extra $ and get HOTAS. You really will enjoy it.

Keep the JS and buy some rudder pedals for the broken jaw axis, you're going to love it. I bought mine when they were on special sale for my flight simulator but they do work for this game too.

Like I said before in this topic,  yup rudder pedals make you enjoy this game a little bit more.
