Seriously, Top.

Go to Tanks.  Look at the vehicles there.

Go to Warships.  Look at the vehicles there.

Then stop complaining about paper designs.  They are necessary.  You are the only person I can think of who thinks that Germany, Japan and the US all flying F-86 Sabers at tier X would be fun and interesting.  In reality, it's actually quite the opposite.

I think it would be fun... just let the USA have .50's, and give Japan and Germany 30mm's and 20mm's, respectively. Then see how much he complains!

The (not so) amazing Chokai is back! And he's hit all his personal goals sans one! Seriously though, nice to be back, looks like he game is improving. I continue to try to recruit new people.

I don't want anyone to miss out on their Japanese MR or HF line...or even 2nd LF line if that's what they want to do.

...but maybe just one lone Japanese GA, off to the side, for ol' Porkins...?

Do you think the interceptors will be MR or LF?

I'd love to se the Ki-93 you mention as a GA!

I would be surprised if the IJA interceptors (Ki-44, Katsuodori, Ki-200/202) were designated as multirole for at least two reasons:

1) they were not developed or intended for operation that way

2) there are better choices available

Now, to be fair, J7W1, J7W2, J7W3 were developed as interceptors, yet designated 'multirole' by developers.  There are at least two reasons for that as far as I can tell:

1) the additional 2x7.7mm armament used for ranging the 30mm's was deleted, and the corresponding weight savings was given back as bomb payload (I made a detailed post about that some time ago)

2) context of development with Kawanishi N1K1-J, N1K2-J, etc. fighter-bombers.

3) another possible reason is for balance in order to provide multirole equipment (Concealing Livery) to mitigate their fragility.

The best candidate for a solo (premium) IJA ground attack aircraft (in my opinion) would be the Mitsubishi Ki-51 ("Sonia") at Tier IV.  It would be like the A6M1 in-game at the same tier, but more heavily armored, with a tailgunner instead of the wing-mounted cannons.  Or said another way, like a Wirraway that is faster and more maneuverable but with half the payload.  It flew in China without much opposition.  There are some notes about it here (modules, development) and here (armor -- scroll down to Type 99 Assault Plane).  It would probably be a lot of fun.

Another good choice might be the Ki-98 developed in Manchuria to compete against the Ki-102 in the attack role (here), or the Ki-94-I that was rejected and reworked as Ki-94-II (also here), but there is much room for developer interpretation for these exotic aircraft.  The Ki-98 prototype was destroyed to prevent capture by the Soviets, and the Ki-94-I was rejected for being too complex for production.

Yeah... not against them at all, as illustrated here: http://forum.worldof...__fromsearch__1 AKA USA Downs The World

Based on your comments I guess the XF-90 should be removed from the game?

The XF-88 Voodoo would have been a better choice.

It's a more natural progression from the F2H Banshee as both were made by the same company with similar roles.

But to be honest, the US tech tree does not make a lot of sense to me.

To me a more natural progression for the US would have the Grumman line starting with the

Tier 2 F2F, Tier 3 F3F, Tier 4 F4F-1 upgradeable to F4F-2, Tier 5 F4F-3, Tier 6 XF6F - F6F-5, Tier 7 F8F and F7F, Tier 8 XF5F, Tier 9 F9F terminating with the F9F-6 at Tier 10

    1. Try to secure the upper hand before attacking.
    2. Always continue with an attack you have begun
    3. Open fire only at close range, and then only when the opponent is squarely in your sights
    4. You should always try to keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses
    5. In any type of attack, it is essential to assail your opponent from behind
    6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try run away from his attack, but fly to meet it
    7. When over the enemy's lines, always remember your own line of retreat
    8. It is better to attack in groups of four or six. Avoid two aircraft attacking the same opponent

Bottom line: if the game survives for awhile they sure won't run out of planes to add!
