I'm curious as to which planes in the communities experience are the best in each line, the worst in each line, and why. Talk about your experience. Doesn't matter if your highest tier is five, comment if you want to or feel like it.
Best: P-40, P-51d (These planes each do pretty much everything well. I always thought it odd that people complain about the nerf to this line, because it still seems amongst the best of lines to me. This is also personally amongst my favorite lines, maybe only matched by the Corsair MRF line.)
Worst: P-46, P-51h (The P-51h is actually a good plane in my opinion, it suffers mainly because it's direct competitor is the Me 209 A, which I think is OP)
American MRF Corsair
Best: Pretty much every plane in this line is great to excellent. The F2G used to be laughably poor, but seems good to me since the buff (though I havn't played it much since).
American MRF Thunderbolt
Best: P-35, P-43, XP-72, P-47N
Worst: Nothing in this line is poor, but I seem to have some difficulty with the F-84B. This could easily be me since I flew it in a particular way that might not have been the best.
Best: XF5U, F2H, XF-90 (The pancake is pretty clearly OP. The F2H I think is on the better side of balanced. I couldn't really say if the XF-90 is OP yet, but it is an excellent plane.)
Worst: F7F (Don't get me wrong, the F7F isn't bad, but it doesn't have the speed, altitude or performance this line is known for. But I still love it though.)
Best: Spit V, Bristol 146, Attacker (The Spit V really brings this lines characteristics together in the best way I think. Though the Spit IX and the XIV are good, they fall off slightly from the V. The Attacker changes the playstyle of this line significantly, and is an excellent plane at tier 9.)
Worst: No plane in this line I think is notably underpowered, but the Spit IX and XIV hit the lowest as they have a lot of difficulty getting to the altitudes of the other planes in their tier.)
Best: Gloster 228, Hornet, Mosquito (The 228 has all the best things this line has to offer in it's firepower and maneuverability, it seems to fall off a bit with the Javelin because of the Javelins inaccuracy)
Worst: Blenheim IV since the cannon removal (havn't played this much since the cannon removal, but I recall it not seeming quite as potent as it used to be)
Best: A7M (post 1.7 buff) A5M, A6M1, J7W3 (The A7M in 1.7 received a significant buff in 1.7 that made it the best of the line IMO, and it was a buff that was necessary. The A5M and the A6M1 are both on the upper side of balanced I think, as they have their excellent maneuverability and engines to keep up with planes at that tier.)
Worst: J7W2, J7W1 (these planes fall off not only because they have the poor roll rate characteristic of this line, but also have poor controllability and a larger target area from all angles. Though they can still be problematic with the right player, overall they don't match up well to other planes in their tier. This line recovers somewhat with the J7W3 in my limited experience. I also feel that the A6M2 and the A6M5 are on the lesser side of balanced, but not too much.)
German LF Messerschmidt
Best: Me 209 A, BF 109 B (the Me 209 A is one of the most OP planes for it's tier I think, and even competes well with it's tier 9 counterpart. The Bf 109 B is slightly OP but not by much. The rest of the planes in this line sit on the better side of balanced.)
Worst: This line has no weak spots, though maybe a little bit in the AR 80 (not worth considering at tier 3 though)
German MRF Fockewulf
Best: FW 190 A-5, Ta 152 (very fast laterally with excellent guns. Neither are OP in my opinion as they have notable weaknesses that can be exploited, but they are on the better side of balanced)
Worst: TA 183 (The Ta 183 is a bit underpowered and could use a small buff, to help in compete against the other excellent and similar planes in it's tier, like the Attacker, F6U and F-94D)
Best: Me 262 HG II, BF 110E (BF 110 is excellent but still balanced. The HG II is debatably on the edge of OP, but not decidedly so. If any nerf were necessary, it would have to be slight. One of the things that is notable about 262's is their turn rate seems greatly better than is listed in their stats anywhere, can outturn the other heavies, and even tail some fighters if you choose to throw away your energy for it.)
Worst: Nothing in this line is poor, or far out of line with the rest.
Best: Me 1099 B, Me 1102, Ju 88P (The big guns on the 1099 B and the 88 P are heavenly, and the Ju 88P one shots anything in it's tier. The planes tier 7 and above in this line are known for their excellent boost and escape ability, which only gets better up to tier 10.)
Worst: Ju 87 (Though no GA plane has excellent energy characteristics, I remember this one being notably poor even for a GA in that area, stalling within a second of pointing up, and barely able to complete a turn without stalling. Though it has excellent guns, it is probably the most sad little plane in the game, and they should give it some speed, lighter weight, and a little better climb.)
Russian LF Yakovlev
Best: Yak-1M, Yak-15, either of the I-16s (the Yak 1M does everything well at low altitude, and is and excellent 'screamer' when necessary. Tons of fun, and I wouldn't really say OP, but on the upper side of balanced. The I-16s are favored by new players and seal clubbers for their extreme maneuverability at those tiers, which works well for less skilled players against the less experienced players who start out there.)
Worst: Yak-3 (The whole series is excellent, and though the yak-3 is still great, but falls a little short of the others)
Russian LF Lavochkin
Best: La-9, La-160, La-15 (La-9 is the most beastly in this line for it's tier, has excellent speed, turning, durability, and firepower. Not sure if I would say it's OP, but if not then very close. La-160 is excellent, but is closer to balanced than the La-9, mostly due to it's large profile being easy to hit.)
Worst: No notable weak spots in this line
Russian LF Mikoyan-Gurevich
Best: I-220, I-250, Mig-3 (The I-220 when released was definitely OP in my opinion, and is probably the best plane at tier 7. The I-250 and the Mig-3 I would not say are OP, but are great planes
Worst: I-210, Mig-9 (The I-210 I remember feeling the low firepower of at tier 6, and not really being able to do enough damage with. I havn't played it since it's release patch however, and havn't paid attention to whether it was buffed or not. The Mig-9 isn't bad, but I was never able to get it to compete with the FJ-1 or the Me 1092, and I would say it's slightly on the lesser side of balanced.)
Russian GA Ilyushin
Best: IL-40, IL-40P, IL-10, IL-20 (The IL-40 and 40P are excellent at controlling the the endgame, and in 1.7-1.9 were rather OP. In 1.9 they are more balanced, but still excellent.)
Worst: IL-2 (the lack of a rear gunner makes this plane very vulnerably, but it's ordnance is excellent.)
Universally I would increase the heat cycle of 20-mm guns by 20-30%
XF5U: Since this plane is a heavy, I would increase its 360d pitch time by 2-3s. It would still keep it's low stall speed as a unique and fun feature.
F7F: Increase its speed at optimum altitude by 10kph, and increase its climb by 0.8m/s. Maybe increase altitude band by 50m.
Spit IX and XIV: Since the notable and interesting features of these are their sustained turn and climb, I would emphasize these by increasing their climb by 1.2 - 1.6m/s, and reducing weight by maybe 75-100kg.
J7W1 and J7W2: Increase controllability to 100. Reduce profile by maybe 5%, decrease weight by 100-150kg.
A6M1 and A6M2: I always liked that these had a low roll rate as an interesting challenge to match their advantages. Thus I would keep that, and try to balance them by adding about 6-12 Kph to their speed at optimum altitude and add 0.4 - 0.6m/s to climb rate. Leave the dive speed poor.
Me 209 A: Increase it's 360d pitch time by about 2s.
Ta 183: An odd plane. It has the highest altitude band, matched only by the 209 A. It's stats suggest it should fly like the attacker and F6u, but it does worse in every area. In order to buff it while keeping the features of it's line, I would try to add about 15-25kph to its speed at optimum altitude.
Ju 87G: add about 20kph to speed at optimum altitude, 1.6m/s of climb, 10kph to dive and reduce weight by maybe 200-300kg
La-9: not sure if this plane needs balancing, but if so then the best way to do so would be to add 50-150kg to its weight to increase the contrast from the equal-tier spitfire.
I-220: Increase 360d pitch time by 1s, reduce hitpoints by 10-30.
Yak-3: Increase optimum altitude by 100m, Increase climb rate by 0.4 - 0.8m/s.
Edit: Added yak-3 to the balancing list.
