I was using a probably 10 year old Acer LCD monitor and while the refresh rate was rated as good, the monitor itself was sorta dingy.  Just low light and the colors were not great.

Just bought a new IPS monitor from Amazon (the "easy choice" for work model Acer R240HY bidx) and what a difference.  It looks like an entirely new game to me.  Things are so much brighter, the detail is crisp and it's actually easier to pick out planes in the sky.  While this is not a top-end gaming monitor by any means it works great.

So... if you are in the market for a monitor that is easy on the eyes for web browsing, documents, video, and works well for the game, I can recommend this one as it's a great value.

No, I do not work for Amazon or Acer or have any financial interest in either.

Have one of those new Acer 24" monitors myself as my main monitor, and a Vizio 22" smart TV/Monitor as my secondary/side monitor.

The bigger and brighter Acer is the way to go, had an older 22" monitor and it was ok, but the color and clarity on the new one is 500% better for gaming.

I made the switch from an old 19" Trinitron to my current 24" ViewSonic LED LCD a couple of years ago even though the picture on the old Sony was still excellent the difference was night and day.

I bought that exact same monitor about 5 months ago, and I can confirm it is AWESOME.

Pro Tip: Turn the saturation up about 10-15%, and the colors on that thing normalize, and REALLY pop.

Pro Tip: Don't try to watch movies on it. It has some extensive right hand side light bleed. Works great for gaming though.

Thanks for this thread. My 22 inch acer monitor is around 10 year old. I now have another verifiable reason why I have a 49% rate. It's my monitor, who would have guessed.  lol thanks hiho
