The range of the guns are over ranged by 300m at least.  No one should be able to hit anyone over 250m.  All I know is this give noobs a false sense of their ability to fly.  When they really don't have a clue.  People shouldn't be firing till the are getting ready to break the 300m mark.  This needs to be fixed!  It will make your game better!

The problem with that entire idea is that guns have a longer range than 250 meters.

M2 Browning 50 cal.

    Max Range 6800 meters.

    Effective range 1800 meters.

    Single shot 1500 meters

M1919 : .30 cal machine guns

    Effective range 1,400 meters

So what WG needs to do is research the ranges of the guns and adjust accordingly....

OH snap I thing they already did that in this arcade game.

Why do I even have to address this quote!?  If you fly any other sim you can't set convergence beyond 350m because pilots didn't set their convergence past 250m.  Most were within 200m. crapWW1 fighters would fire within 50ft. There is a reason they had convergence set to low range.  1) limited ammo! Which means you couldn't spray and pray, 2) planes don't sit still and most effective range for flying is within 200m, 3) Maneuvering at 300mph or faster reduces your window for a effective gun solution. Snip shots are what you are trying to accomplish here. But I understand only if you really want to fly sims will you pratice this. So for you to quote max gun ranges here in a flight sim is pointless.

Noob always looking for excuses to be bad! lol Who said anything about realistic!?  Just make it like a normal sim if your going to be using planes that really exist.  Flying is flying and no sim is ever going to be like real life but stay somewhat consistent. Because people who like sims would like it to fly a game that is like other sims! I can say War Thunder and IL2 are comparable!  And IL2 is a realistic sim!

First: this is not a sim this is arcade.

Second: wargaming has 2 factors that address effects of guns.

  Overheating and dispersion.

Lets take a ME 265 that i just finished playing and had a long range shot on a ME410 out to 2600 feet ( 792 meters )

The guns were fresh and cool...once they began heating up I was losing the "hits" as I got closer due to "dispersion and overheating ".

Dispersion is increased as the guns heat up making them less effective at longer ranges.

Like wise each tier does have a set range factor in which it is better to engage, somethign new players have to learn.

P-12 tier 1 is and always has been 450 meters before you open fire. As the tiers increase so do the ranges of each individual plane.

Yak 3 is best to shoot at less than 1000 feet or 304 meters any further your guns just over heat and are ineffective.

What you are angry about and why you are making this suggestion is that someone " KNOWS " how to use their guns effectively.

Probably someone with experience at this game and they shot you down from 1000 meters away.

Now despite that real world pilots would set their CONVERGENCE to 250 meters or less.

Convergence is not the same thing as gun range.

This game does not have CONVERGENCE.

This being an ARCADE style game the round just shoot out in front of the plane in a straight line ( more or less ) and

an algorithm is used to determine damage done to the enemy.

Of course I understand where you're coming from.  Wargaming should make it harder for newbs to hit you when they chase after you into the stratosphere because you are scared to engage said newbs.  Firing ranges are set exactly where they need to be.  Learn to dodge instead of climb and you won't have a bad time.  Only Krupi, smh.

Even though I agree to a point the answer is no. While the effective game ranges are longer than the real pilots got this is a game not a simulation. To get an idea of how much longer take a replay and turn off the hud and think about how small the planes are in most of our shooting. There is a reason that many fighter pilots had their guns converge at 250 - 300 yards, beyond that range except for when shooting at a big bomber the targets were mere specks.

Oh! I just can't fly and noob get within range and spray you from over 500m and get hits!? That is the laughable part! Because having 2 or mor planes line up on you and all start firing at you from 500m means they will kill you before you get within 200m.  GG!  Wow that's what we want just get your team together and all fire at the same target. Simple. Don't even need to fly.  People are dumb here!  This is a sim.  And they want to to be a sim. But the noobs that aren't willing to learn to fly right means they can't make it more difficult! Lol noobs wow learn to fly instead of making excuses on why you need bullets to hit 300m over range!

No one here can solo me! But it's much more difficult to kill multiple players when that are shooting at me from over ranged ammo!  And I usually have to fight multiple bogies because noob players rush out to die! You all know the game has a 15 min time limit!? It's even more funny to see a dumb GA go right out to attack GTs and get zerged and die!? Learn to fly and if they ever do fix the ammo range it will improve the game play.

Spoiler

And if you ever played IL-2 or DCS you should have noticed that this game is far from being a simulator. Is an arcade game with planes.

They are there.  In fact the only ones with people playing it are the realistic servers.  I bet you couldn't even take off lol. Its cockpit view only.  You have Track IR?  Any time you want to play the new one BoS let me know Ill meet you but I only fly German.  So. Which IL is that? Ive played them all.

You stand 500m away and let me shoot a machine gun at you. If you are still alive when I'm done, then we can talk.

Just close your eyes and get ready for the Robo ride of your life.
