Very nice tournament, however, the highest tier being T6 is very disappointing. Why did the organizers make this decision?

+1,000!!!! :great:

I want to express my gratitude to KP and Marco for putting this together!! :honoring:

I like the format. Double Elimination is definitely the way to go, because hey, s*** happens, right?

While I personally would love to see a higher tier tournament, keeping a Tier VI ceiling will definitely allow more people to participate, which is more important.

In the future, I would also like to see larger teams (say 10v10 or even 15v15), but given our current population, I think 5v5 is a good choice at this time.

I also like the fact that you have to have one plane from each nation. This should make for some interesting team configurations.

Been way too long we had a tournament.  This is JUST what the community needs right now. :great:

I also want to thank GhostPrime and Veganzombie for their support.  YOU GUYS ROCK!!!:honoring:

I can't wait.......:playing:

Looks OK so far. However, if the Administrators (WoWP players) play in this tournament then they should not be allowed to oversee any registered dispute as outlined in 6.3 (2) and instead wait for WG staff decision on dispute(s)

But this is not a big tournament at all, 8 teams of 8, that's just 64 players. The highest tier should at least be T8.

If you watched KP's video, he can set the brackets up to 16+ teams....it's all about participation....the more people that sign up, the better.

While I personally would also prefer higher tiers, keeping the cap at T6 will allow more participation, which is the most important thing right now...getting more people to participate. Since we have a two week heads up, this will allow some players to grind out their T5s and obtain a T6 plane or two for the tournament.

I know that KP and Marco have put a lot of thought and effort into this, and while my personal preferences for a tourney are, like yours, a bit more ambitious, I firmly believe that this format is exactly what is needed right now.

I can see the frustration with Tier 6 being low, however Killer and I wanted to put on a tournament that promoted as much participation as possible.  This being the first tournament in a very long while it was decided that it would be best to keep the tier low to try and get people back into this game.

It is our intention to run these tournaments in place of the monthly tournaments that were promised by gunlion. Depending how this goes, and the feedback we get, the max tier may be increased.

In regards to the number of teams/players involved, Killer spoke with several clans and we are expecting a high participation with a minimum of 16 teams, we are hoping to fill this out to 64 teams, but expect we will be somewhere in the 32 team range.

I'm glad you brought this up.  It will be WG staff ruling on disputes, however if a situation arises where a WG staff has not been available to rule, in order to keep the tournament running, the administration staff would rule.  I do plan to participate in the event, however we have made every effor to ensure that the rules are fair and there is no room for interpretation.  This issue was reviewed and approved by WG staff.  If for any reason there is a dispute in which my team is involved, I will leave the decision up to WG staff, and if need be Killerpopcorn.

edit: Keep in mind that administration would only make a decision at the last minut (2 hours before the start of the next round) if WG has not made one by that time.  This is the best way to keep this think moving, or else we will have to push off schedules, we wanted to avoid what happened in the CCWB

Step in the right direction, though will be a nice sight when we see WG actually putting some time into this game.

Only time we will chime in is if we cant get a WG member to decide since if we cant get a decision done before the next matchup its going to affect the brackets. I understand your point and I am trying to avoid this as much as possible that's why I am not playing in this.

We made it tier 6 to allow those who are somewhat new to the game the chance to form a team and participate that can field multiple plane types. Not everyone has a t8 or higher and multiple ones at that. The tournament is based around the players not clans. Anyone can join anyones team regardless of clan tags or not.

Killerpopcorn already stated that he would not participate so that he could administer the tournament.

What's wrong with asking a question like this? Since past tournaments included T7-10.

He spends all his time flying upper tiers...mostly 9 and 10...you don't see him in the lower tiers...this is why he opposes the tier pick.

He never opposed it.. he merely asked a question while voicing an opinion, he actually even complimented it before he opened with his opinion and question.

Jump to conclusions much gentlemen?

Requirements: must take 1 plane from each nation, only allowed max 2 plane types per battle(EI: Heavy fighter, fighter, multi-role, and attack aircraft.)

Based on the rest of the rules you may want to reword this to :

Requirements: must take 1 plane from each nation, only allowed max 2 planes of each type per battle(EI: Heavy fighter, fighter, multi-role, and attack aircraft.)

Absolutely nothing wrong with it.  In fact, I agree with you that higher tiers would be more fun.

However, I have already stated why I think this is a better format at this time, given the struggles we are having with population and overall interest with the game.

Also, keep in mind how long it has been since we had an actual tournament, and look at the changes in the population and overall average skill level of the community since then.

I was just playing devil's advocate here, and wasn't challenging your right to express your opinion, which is just as valid as anyone elses.

I hope you decide to participate. You're a great pilot, and I'd love to see you join in on the festivities.

(You too, dity....come on, it won't kill you go slumming, LOL) :D
