Agree, If I remember some old post I believe we have some players with that type of degree background that could do better then with what we have now.
I've got a couple classes in game design and business as well as some common sense to listen when people say "this ain't working", does that qualify me?
I will agree that the majority of reasons why they say this game has failed is malarkey. However their biggest does seem to be the "3d combat is too hard" which is both true and false. Yes, for most, thinking of more than left right, front back, is far from second nature, play tanks or better yet any of the FPS games and most people will forget to look at a higher elevation. That being said, WG does nothing to really help that.
There is no tutorial/training thing that really helps try to teach them.
Radar, which is super helpful in this, is disabled by default and has no explanation how it works, I learned it on the fly.
We don't get WG made how to guides on various planes anymore for a quick reference.
And at this point, a better explanation or rework of spotting mechanics would be useful. I've most figured out and learned WoT and WoWs spotting, then you have this game. Actually had a player send me a message of "that's what you get for headhunting" when in reality I went for him because he was close in altitude and had a good angle and performance edge to exploit, and as I'm lining up all of a sudden 600m away a P-38 magically appears shooting at me. He wasn't on radar or visible prior to that because had he been, I would have gone head on firing rockets at him for the contest. There are times the spotting in this game makes no bloody sense.
I don't play this game nearly as much as I did, I'm taking a break from ships after all the alpha and beta testing as well as what I've done in super test (and because I'm taking a break before resuming my campaign to at least TRY to make some of the carrier aircraft and all historically accurate and not have a second world war built escort carrier launching biplanes retired before they started building it), playing more tanks because I've gotten a lot better at it and they have giveaways galore that are relatively easy, But what keeps me from playing as much is the same thing that keeps me around.
When I joined in 1.1, this game had issues, but potential. and through 1.2-4, I saw more of that potential coming out, and the game still had so much more and was 1000x better than the competition, because they had a good balance between historical sim and arcade. But then they botched 1.5, which could have been good had they listened and postponed the patch, and subsequent patches may have fixed somethings or made others worse. This game still has so much potential, and I still like it better than that pay to win pos the other company makes. But seeing it having regressed so much when it had been moving the right direction, steps by either the company or the devs in recent months, and other assorted things, kills my drive to play it. Normally, I'd be intent to get that mosquito, but it's not worth my time trying to grind 350k base xp when tanks now has an on track back up, and I can spam first wins and make use of my premium time for extra xp towards that till I get to the 8 day rental, where it's more I just have to grind that tank about the same as an on track or the WZ mission, and hey, worse case scenario, I shell out 15 bucks for a premium heavy to train my crew in besides excelsior.
I want this game to succeed, really I do, because playing it reminded me of playing combat flight sim as a kid, that balance I had between sim and fun that had me playing for hours and trying to do insane things (like learning how to get a fully loaded P-38 off a carrier deck, and then land it again - Turns out in CFS 2 the trick they used to get the b-25's off the carriers worked). But it was so much fun. But between what I see of the other games population in planes, players we lost for various reasons since 1.5, and all he people that seem to play games like ace combat and others, theres a market out there, more than recent things said by WG indicate, all they have to do is sort this out nd advertise it and it could be every bit tanks equal in population or at least even the equal of ships (to which we would at least be able to resume a normal MM like RU and EU have).
