Sure, but you had more success before you started going full arcade. After years of learning energy management approach angles and the sort, it's all going to be thrown away for some arcade consumables that turn the game into a phone app.

Again, the game was never intended to be a simulator. If that's what people are looking for, they will not find it here. WoWP was always meant to be an arcade game. WoWP is like a third-person shooter with planes.

Understood, and it's unfortunate as other titles bring that option along with a simulator aspect. This game has always had that arcade feel with that simulator familiarity that imo drew the majority of your player base. Once you throw away that balance in lieu of the desired "full arcade" mode, then what do you have that your competitors don't? Absolutely nothing, even less at that point because you have no option but full arcade mode.

 

:honoring: Happy to get some official feedback, even if it was the answer we were all expecting.

Remember when I I could not kill a single plane with out ramming and my stats were something like 25% win rate.

Not once did I claim unfair match maker, seal clubbers, two many GA.

I asked for help, watched video's and learn the way the game operates.

 

The game changes and so do I ---- I do what I need to do to adjust and get better.

 

Thank the WG kings this is not a simulator...imagine all the cry babies that would be winning cause this would be WAY to hard as a simulator P vs P.

 

NOW on to July.....time warp

I see you added this. Just because it's an arcade 3rd person shooter with planes, does not mean it's not capable of holding on to that balance it has held on to between simulator and arcade for the past year and a  half. Full arcade is fun every once in a while for events, but if experience hasn't taught us anything, these changes pushing towards full arcade mode is really doing the opposite of attracting new players. It's a great idea to open up a full arcade game in a market that expects simulators, but to wait until 2 years after the game is released to actually make that impression after you spent 2 years with loyal customers expecting more of what they have gotten doesn't seem promising. Continuing to make drastic game play changes and chalk it up to "it is an arcade game not a simulator" is not the right idea. Unless of course there is going to be some massive relaunch campaign after ships goes live, which in that case you might not be digging your grave.

 

It's hard to make a constructive post that doesn't go full bash mode, but this is me trying.

We've always billed it as an arcade game, even during the Beta. I think there have been mechanics that were sim-like--or maybe "sim-lite"--that have existed or still exist in the game that kind of gets players confused as well as to what it's supposed to be, but we've always called it an arcade game. I edited that third-person shooter comparison in there because that's really more akin to what we've been trying to go for. Warplanes is supposed to be all about action, more like what a Hollywood WW2 aerial fight would be rather than a technically-nuanced PC simulation of what a WW2 aerial fight would be. It's supposed to be Ace Combat, not IL-2.

Oh the irony!!!  It was fast paced 15v15..now it's mostly GA..like...IL-2 GA in a 3v3-5v5 way...looking forward to next month..thanks for dropping in gunlion!

Perfectly stated, that was exactly what drew me to the game. It was as if I was helping a pilot fly an airplane which is beyond me but with him helping I can do it. Naming the pilots and providing a barracks I thought added to the concept perfectly (I would create a micro-transaction for crew skill options to make more money personally). It is totally arcade style (1943 instantly came to mind given the view and I pumped quarter after quarter in to that thing back in the day) until you start to dive without adjusting speed or flaps - then you get confused and start to learn (hopefully).

 

I have relatively few qualms with the mechanics of the flying in the game - why it was necessary to remove an MM that created 15v15 matches in under two minutes for an obviously ill-fitted solution honestly blows my mind as an IT program lead. It's not my company so I can only vote with my dollars and hours - I would love to read your response to what happened to the MM as it pertains to NA and if there is ever hope of reverting back to a truly functional one.

 

Regardless, I am glad to see you posting here more often the lack of communication during MM change made it impossible to keep the faith. Be safe.

Got it in a nutshell, WOWP, is the lowest priority on Wargaming's Radar; In addition, Historical accuracy has never been a concern in the creation of World of Warplanes, It's an Arcade game; On Par with Pin Ball Machines; Brilliant!

Hard to call any 3 v 3 fast paced on big map where it takes 2 or 3 min to find enemy at start.
