Thanks to Bearss for showing me this one. What you want to do is shoot the tail end of the ship. this focuses on the bottom red square and you can take out the ship with 1 rocket rather than 2

Shooting the rear or front of the hull has the same effect, the reason you were able to use only one rocket is because of the slower speed of the IL20 allowing you more gun time on target than a IL40 or 40P.

not really, i first tested it with the f94d i can take out 6 ships shooting the rear. vs 3 ships shooting the front

I just tested the f94 & you can one pass a ship shooting the front of the hull with guns/4rockets in a f94. I would like to see if you can use 1 rocket to kill a ship in one pass with a IL40 at 500 kph.

I would try it but I don't have any GA's.

That's awesome, I don't have a 40 either. hopefully  I'll get one sooner rather than later

A 1 rocket ship kill is possible, with the big rockets, but not sure at 500kph.  The only time I have been able to do that is when I am able to farm, and I have brakes and flaps heading up to the target.  500 kph would mean there is not enough time for guns.

I never lose; either I win or I learn.

also, front, rear, or middle red square doesn't matter.  They all register hits to that middle red square, you can see it flashing when you are hitting the front or back of the ship.  I tend to go for back as it takes out AA on my approach.

I never lose; either I win or I learn.

After further testing with the f94 I did find it easier to crack a ship shooting the rear hull as it took less gun time. I think they messed with the ship hit boxes since the last time I played regularly & needed to crack ships with rockets. Shooting the front or rear of the hull used to work the same but now I think Yagos's advice on shooting the rear hull is the better choice.

I was just going by the way dity used to do his speed runs where the slowest he was going was about 500 kph & would bang out each ship using guns & 2 rockets in one pass.

500 kph with 2 rockets is easily achievable, maybe even with the smaller rockets if you get enough guns.

I have noticed with the f-94 that if you come in at a bit of a steep angle vs on the water and your guns and rockets hit the deck of the ship, right at the back where that AA is, the ship pops more often than not.  If i come in along the water, the ship doesn't always pop.

I showed this during the live stream last night, got 2 out of 3 ships with guns and 1 rocket blast.  the 3rd took 2 rockets. then I had to take out the GA or I would have got a chance to go for 2 more ships.  The f-94 is definitely a game changer when you are facing a flight of GA hiding once they have supremacy.  Taking out 6 ships would force them out of hiding for sure, and it will also eliminate most of the AA protecting them.

Watch the first part of this video where he cracks a couple ships & a less than happy fellow windowlicker, not sure which rockets he was using but all I know is that all the ships on the map would be gone in short order. Also take note of the airspeed. I just want to know if it is now possible to do it in one pass with just one of the same rockets at a descent speed.

I would say its not possible to do with 1 rocket at the speeds shown.  You need the slower speed to give you extra time on target with guns.
