The engine sounds are horrid. In the couple of bot battles I have been in the MG's have sounded all right.

Edit: The cannons don't sound quite as good as the MG's.

About 10 flights so far, not a lot of difference accept the sound is too tinny.  I adjusted to best rate, still the same, sounds like coming from inside a tin can.

Also heard the static like noise in hangar described above, kind of annoying.

As usual for CT, hard to get into a match.

Played several rounds against bots from low tiers up.  Found my tier one difficult to control with joystick, others not as noticeable.

The pitch up and down were exaggerated in the tier one.  Did not adjust sensitivity because other tiers seem fine.

More tomorrow.

Just a request for a Feedback thread/post (I hope someone over there is reading these feedbacks btw) for the 1.6 Graphics Optimizations for low to medium end comps. Frames Performance has been lowered badly at low-minimal settings due to some graphics tweaks that was unmentioned in the patch notes.

It is quite noticeable that the Render Quality has been increased unusually even for low settings which eats up alot of Frames for low end comps. It's unplayable at these current settings (Although I already know the ultimate solution: Buy a new computer!)

Any confirmation/replies/update notes about this please please post ASAP before those RU devs roll the 1.6 patch for release in 1-2 weeks.

Wow. This is a huge improvement. :great:

really like the direction you're headed with the sound changes.

As noted there are a few things to improve:

  1. Believe it or not, the guns have too much bass applied
  2. Engine sound should be louder (also, it get's over-ridden by a lot of environment sounds and you need to zoom in/out to get it back)
  3. Alternative to #2 - allow engine and guns volume settings to be configurable (isn't it currently configurable?) so players preference can be accounted for
  4. Remove/reduce the "echo" from gun fire (as stated earlier sounds like recordings from ground-based gun fire)
  5. General improvement in overlaying sounds and adjusting volume for distance (I should not hear the "plink, plink" of the enemy IL 600 meters away from me getting hit by AA).
  6. Meteor has prop engine sounds - oops
  7. I had to turn the music volume down to 20% - maybe make that the default level instead of 80%?

What I like about the sound changes:

  1. Much more dynamic and rich - it is more engaging/immersive
  2. Explosions - especially for the ground targets - These are sounding really good - keep going in this direction
  3. Plane collision sound is much improved
  4. Tail-gunner fire sounds better
  5. Engine sounds are especially improved - I just wish they were a bit more prominent

Will add additional posts for other aspects of the update.

Have feedback on Common Test 1.6 that doesn't fit into the other threads? Let us know here!

I find the same problem lack of interface between tiers, as for tonight on tier 8 got skipped and there was still enough planes for a good 2 tier match and the MM pulled 4 aircraft up for an uneven fight.  Thats when I get off the game than it becomes a waste of time..

  • Blenheim F: Removed modules:
    • Airframe Blenheim IV
    • Airframe Blenheim V
    • Outboard machine guns, 4x0.303 Browning Mk. II

Modules added:

  • Airframe Blenheim V (Bisley)
  • Bombs 4x250 pounds

Should rename it to Bristol Bisley or Bristol Blenheim Mk V. The Blenheim F designation was only given to Mk IV airframes modified to carry the outboard machine guns, both of which are being removed from the game. The in-game description should be altered as well, as the "60 aircraft" it mentions is referring to the Mk IVF.

To me the new sound sounds horribly tinny (i.e. like your inside a tin can) and mid-rangy.  They applied way too many effects to it, most severely and notably crushing and stuffy overcompression (a form of dynamics processing).  There is also way to much reverb and maybe distortion (?) all over it.  To note one thing specifically, the overcompression shows up the most on explosions, and the characteristic pumping sound is blatantly obvious.

the diving sound for me starts when I nose down my aircraft at -5 degrees, and most of the sounds in game cut each other out.  Also, many sounds inexplicably stop, and others inexplicably continue way past the point where they should (the diving sound does this, continues long after i've pulled out of a dive).  This to me suggests that the new sound engine needs some very serious tweaking and adjustment.

The fact that so many sounds appear so much closer reduces the use of sound in game to evaluate distance, which also multiplies the degree to which they are obnoxious (hearing so many obnoxiously tinny sounds like they are right next to your ear doesn't sound good).  I'm hoping they include an option to use the pre-1.6 sounds, as they are better than the new ones by leaps and bounds.  The new sound is simply just... bad.

Please apply dirt, rocks and trees to your aircraft sparingly.

I have this theory that loudly ticking clocks can be wound with massive blunt objects.  By striking the clock with great force the energy would transfer into the gears, not unlike winding it.   I plan on testing this someday.

I have installed it and can't log in. It does not recognize my email.

I was registered before Sept 24... Any ideas?

I tried registering again. No luck.

After two flights, the ricochet sound is more distracting than annoying.  It would be nice to be able to turn off sound selectively, such as the ability to turn off ricochet but leave gun sound.

Ok, I just tried 2 battles. Ping is around 200, last I saw when I thought to look, flew my I-17 & cannot seem to turn worth a damn. I had a heck of a time even turning to shoot at an iL.

I am using default settings other than mouse sensitivity is at max & a few flight keys were re-mapped.

Any ideas?

As for sounds, the I-17's cannons sound like a shot gun.

I guess I'll wait til it goes live. Playing with a 200 ping is not possible for me as I just struggle the entire time to get the reticle on a plane.

First day- Graphics seem better even in very low res.

sound dropped out and had what sounded like AM radio static whole time.

Sight alignment seemed jerky toward final aircraft alignment.

after a couple matches went back to hanger  and the screen was jumping up and down inside the hanger and wouldn't stop until I went into another match. hanger was ok after that.

mm hasn't changed. I was skipped over in tier 6 three times only to be put in a tier 7 match as the only tier 6.

all in all it seems to be ok so far.

Thank you for adding multi-core support. That is probably the best part of the patch, other than adding a Mig line.

Multi-threading, not multi-core.

I think just about every game my engine gets destroyed. Anybody else having this problem? It only takes like 20 HP lost to do it too.

It's really annoying.

But.. I love my P.1056 again. It's a total beast now.

Sounds need to be less muffled and sharper/crisper but they are interesting.

F4U-1 seems fine. I can't really notice too much change. It's still a fun plane. Got an ace 2nd game in it.

Yak 9U is really fun, thanks for all the improvement there.

General background sounds are annoying, guns sound like a gun fight at the OK coral. Engine sounds as though it is in need of oil.

lL-40 rear gunner is exceptional to the point of ridiculous, and the AA's are OP.

MM still takes a long time, no change noticed there.

Word of advice, don't get the Me 209 A

JS users will have to tweak controls and reticule is for some reason floating.

Nice visuals, explosions and such.

View Postwooly_bear, on 13 October 2014 - 11:32 PM, said:

The moving aiming cursor on the joystick control makes it just about impossible to stay on target to a maneuvering plane.  I wish there was a choice for the original aiming cursor that moves in relation to the plane.

F16 and Wooly, thx to Paintball, change your Camera Inertia to 0%.  Mine was at 100% and it causes the Reticle to "move" by turning it off to 0% the Reticle is stationary again.  Because the controls were defaulted is why we are seeing this as a JS user.

Also my comments on this patch will follow later.  I got sick last night so just trying to fly and not puke was hard enough to note everything on this patch.
