Poll: Physics changes (27 members have cast votes)

What are your thoughts on collision damage?

  1. The damage model makes sense, and I appreciate that there's a chance I can come out of a ram alive. (10 votes [37.04%])

    Percentage of vote: 37.04%

  2. While the damage model makes sense, I'm iffy on collisions being more forgiving. (12 votes [44.44%])

    Percentage of vote: 44.44%

  3. Collisions in every instance should result in both planes destroyed. (5 votes [18.52%])

    Percentage of vote: 18.52%

What do you think of the bullet dispersion changes?

  1. Reduced dispersion while maneuvering, and increased dispersion in a dive, are both good changes. (7 votes [25.93%])

    Percentage of vote: 25.93%

  2. Reduced dispersion while maneuvering is great, but increased dispersion in a dive was a bad idea. (6 votes [22.22%])

    Percentage of vote: 22.22%

  3. Please just get rid of dispersion altogether. (14 votes [51.85%])

    Percentage of vote: 51.85%

What about bomb dispersion?

  1. Increased bomb dispersion is good. (8 votes [29.63%])

    Percentage of vote: 29.63%

  2. Bomb dispersion should be left as-is on the live server. (19 votes [70.37%])

    Percentage of vote: 70.37%

Firing lines now converge at the maximum distance, giving a tighter-looking spread of fire. What do you think?

  1. It looks good! (13 votes [48.15%])

    Percentage of vote: 48.15%

  2. It's okay. Doesn't affect me that much. (14 votes [51.85%])

    Percentage of vote: 51.85%

Please weigh in on the changes to physics. What has your experience been this past week with changes to the collision damage model and the tweaked shooting mechanics?

Collision damage model

The collision damage calculation has been adjusted. When two planes collide, now one of the two has a better chance than the other to survive the ramming. Colliding with the wings will cause less damage than collisions of the fuselage or the engine

  • Firing lines now converge at the maximum firing distance. This will reduce the visual spread of fire of your wing-mounted weapons and make for a denser-looking line of fire
  • There is now a small, random spread to how far each bullet travels. This will eliminate the effect of fire suddenly stopping to deal damage at always exactly the same distance
  • Reduced dispersion while maneuvering
  • Increased dispersion in a dive
  • Increased dispersion of bombs
  • Better firing visuals for 30mm and larger caliber cannons
  • Better firing visuals for rear gunners

Lots of unnecessary changes. I guess the devs have to justify their salaries somehow, though.

Please just remove dispersion. And put bombs back the way they were - GT difficulty was just increased, you don't also need to make it harder to bomb them.

    which way do we go?

Gun dispersion in a dive ? seriously.

Think about the physics behind gravity doing part of your job for you.

I can understand an increase in a 50+ degree climb but do not understand the increase in a dive.

One could say the vibrations caused from over speeds in a dive can shake the aircrafts fuselage and wings causing unwanted dispersion lawl

But that's just theoretical at best. Would an explanation from WG make a difference? They've already made up their minds about the physics changes.

This. Skywhales have enough on their plate as it is.

Save the Skywhales (that includes the Skorcas)!!!

i like convergence but have you considered having the firing lines now converge at 50% range?

I rather bullets converge at its effective range rather than max range.

Change for just to make a change, isn't alway a good thing. In this case change was a bad thing.Maybe you test longer in the test sever a see if change is what people want.

this is sad... better stats instead of realism people want now...

I think the whole thing is about getting XP, the more you get the straighter the bullets fly and the bombs drop where you put them.

Otherwise why should I worry about XP except to get upgrades or a new plane.

The lousy aim of gun fire or hitting the target with a bomb should depend on two things , the skill of the player and the XP he or she can acquire to operate the plane in a more favorable manner.

That way the game is not so boring  and will only chase away the not so serious gamers who cannot handle the challenge  of becoming a better gamer.

Most gamers here say the game is not that challenging, and so become bored and leave.

The one thing this game needs is a way for the gamer to increase or decrease the challenge level in bots, the way it is now is one size fits all does not work, right now it is set for beginners.

I would like to see something more challenging for the gamers with more XP to test our new planes on, or even get a little more skill by fighting more intelligent bots.

that way it might make it a little better when you are against real players.

Thanks for reading, I hope you like my ideas .
