Having a 4 yr old computer, I'm hoping this info helps me with my 20 fps. Thanks.

well once this is done maybe I can play more often

currently get 12 fps everytime a shell or bullet hits my airplane or one nearby.

complete resource hog on the process for the graphics. Makes the game unplayable.

as does the poor matchmaker ... sad face

its no longer a challenge, it just gets boring.

Would prefer to leave the little tweaks alone. Fix the bugs in the game already, add more planes, modes, etc... you are working the wrong field here.
"There are three things absolutely useless to a pilot; Air above you, runway behind you, and ammo still on the ground."

I hope it is more than " Set graphics settings to LOW " .....lol....just kidding

Seriously, thanks for the work everyone puts into this game.

I have 2 other computers I am going to try the game on,my new AMD quad core mini tower and my toshiba satellite laptop. The AMD previously before the sd version came out only played at low settings.

The laptop also did but with lots of hanger freeze and stuck loading times.

So I'm curious as to how well the SD version works as I still see a lot of people unable to play the game.

It's not lol. Well, maybe slightly more. I was hoping they were making a change to the program itself that would require less graphics but all it says is turn everything down to low. Sadly this isn't going to help my  FPS issue :( Ah well, maybe at the end of the year I can add some more ram as I only have 4 gig now and maybe even a graphics card, tho that would also mean adding a power supply so not sure I wanna spend $250 or so to play a free game. We'll see.

From the title, I read it as a new software update regarding performance optimization.

Not the case, but how else would you title the piece?

While not any performance enhancement, the article is still very helpful.

It explains the various settings and describes what each one does.

This is a tool that we can use to help new players that have performance issues.

Now we have a link to give them, explaining in detail how the graphics settings work.

Probably alleviate some customer support load, and give them the same resource to cite or refer players to use.

Please do pass the article along to anyone with graphics-settings questions or performance issues.

It provides everything they need to better understand the system.

I'm going to be an honest Annie here.

I play on all lowest settings with my Tobisha Satellite with a HD 4000 graphics card or whatever the hell it is.

I play on lowest settings for optimal performance, but it looks amazing on lowest settings!

I run around 110 fps but the problem is that it dips to 18-30 fps in close combat which is what is annoying.

I can run at all high settings but my laptop would have a system meltdown in close combat...

Fix the fps loss in close combat please...

It's a good guide. I was hoping for more information on memory use. Best textures on my 1GB card use up too much main memory and make the computer choke. But they don't push it far over the limit. Wondering if I could turn down other less obvious settings to save less memory and keep best textures.
