Just curious what P-39 Airacobra owners think of the plane, now that it's been out for a bit. I rarely see them in matches (especially compared to the other new Premiums), so I'm kind of concerned that it's not very good.

meh...its ok....long as its in tier.  nothing special about it...turns pretty good but not the best....guns are fair...could be better...altitude is ok but definitely not a high flyer.  out of tier and its pretty much like flying a target.  just my two cents.

I can say and those who have flown with me will admit that I love this plane so very very much.

While not being the best at everything I feel for a Tier 6 it is balanced, quite well.

If you have good trigger control and aim the guns are dangerous....you have a solid Roll rate, decent climb and boost and a good dose of speed and agility.

It just works for the plane and it really rewards a good driver.

Exactly, it's a Jack of All trades, it will have at least one advantage over any other aircraft in it's tier.  If flown well it's very rewarding.  I am enjoying mine alot.

Maybe one of the reasons you don't see it that much is that right now we pilots have a lot of choices just in the premium side of things, not to mention our regular hangar choices.  A lot of pilots will run out every plane in the hangar to get the first win bonus.  That's a lot of different planes to fly for most.

It's a lovely little plane it's pretty fast but not the fastest, turns pretty well but not the best, Has a one shot kill 37mm derp but also MG's to burn down damaged prey.

With a little love and using your strength over the enemies weakness nothing much to complain about it's biggest draw back is low optimal altitude past that nothing really negative.

Is it kind of like a slightly upgraded Yak-7?

In a way yes it has a lot in common with the yak -7 but since it was a american design that comes through a lot in how it feels and flies so it's a nice option for a Russian premium fighter.

I have to say, its far from my favorite plan, but its also not terrible. I personally gravitate to planes that excel at something while learning to fly in such a way so as to minimize whatever flaw the plane has.  The P-39 doesn't seem to have specific strengths, other than to say by not having specific weakness, that is its strength.

To me the P-39 is vanilla - which is good if you like vanilla.
