From what I can tell, these two planes are both boom and zoom. The Me 209V is faster, but the Fw 190V has better firepower. Neither can turn, and I have run down an Fw in my P40, so I don't know that it's really fast enough to be what it should.

In any case, those of you who are familiar with both aircraft, which do you prefer to fly?

If you have good aim and patience the 209V is an excellent aircraft. If not you may come to hate it or even if you do. The 190V is an aircraft that can get into lots of situations where you can't out run or out turn your opponents. Neither of them are particularly great. However with that being said the plane that comes after the 190V the Fw 190 A-5 is a great plane.

Since one is a premium and one a regular craft, its hard in my mind to put them side by side, despite some mechanical similarities.   I like both, but if you stuck a gun to my head, the 190V would be the one I picked.

Dreaming of better days.  When this game had full matches, fiery dogfights, and hope for the future.

The tier 6 plane is a non-factor. I refuse to play that Tier until I no longer have to worry about facing jets. Thanks for your opinions so far, though!

The issue I have with the 209v is you can't affect the game sometimes quick enough to matter.  I often find i am the last plane alive in the 209V and i've had good games to close out that situation, but i've also had duds.

For me, the 190v is the better all-around plane to be a true difference maker.

I like the 209v unfortunately I find it very lackluster in the contributions to your team factor, for being boom and zoom it's boom is severely minimal, this thing's guns overheat too fast and don't cause enough damage to make most passes at enemy aircraft a good "punch", once you've made a pass and the enemy is not distracted you can scarcely outrun the tier VII or VI u usually end up facing, with such a low hp pool and limited turn rate, you'd think it would at least pack a punch... But it doesn't, most tier IV you face outgun you. I've resorted to scavenger like tactics and I don't know why but I enjoy mine somehow...

That's probably never going to happen unless you "play" the MM, which is quite a shame because I consider the 190V crud and the 209V as just an annoyance to fight. The 190 A-5 though, like Crayola said, is absolutely brilliant and quite frankly I think you're missing out on a great plane by just saying and doing something quite petty
