So I have this fully outfitted, guns, engines etc. I boost for 26 seconds at 300+ mph, and a P-36 non-fully upgraded keeps up with me for more than half the map, manages to gain on me, and shoots me out of the sky. All without ceasing fire for the 2 minutes he chased me. Why is it that under 'normal' circumstances that P-36 would never catch up with this plane but now it's just a joke having more horse power and speed ability.

Then again WG needs to update it's historical accuracy on a lot of aircraft. Not including everything in tanks.

*Edit* I meant Blenheim not Beaufighter

The burdon of proof falls upon you to convince us that there is an issue.

First of all, how do you know he's not fully upgraded? And.. by that, I mean how do you know he's just not running his guns light/no 23mm Madsen? Or that he doesn't already have maxed out Engine and airframe, or a pilot with Engine Guru, Aircraft Polish for +5% speed, Gasoline for another +5% to speed?

Do you have a video that proves beyond a reasonable doubt that there is something inherently broken? Last I knew, light fighters in the American P-51 line could relatively keep up with and catch almost every heavy fighter of equal tier and/or one tier above.

Why would you Not want him to catch up?

Climb, turn, dive... do what Heavies do.

You have Guns, and Rockets, and Bombs, Oh My!

Shoot him with your awesome Cannons...

...set him up for a Rocket-Kill...

...Get him to tail you down low in a dive... and let your tail-gunner chew him to bits...

...right before you Bomb-Kill his tenacious little ass =)

...jus' sayin'

We would have to look at the replay to see what really happened. As Rocket Spammer said the P36 could be set up for speed and is actually faster than the Blenheim. The Blenheim doesn't have a big speed advantage over fighters like most heavies do. You should have flown towards your own AA and/or friendlies.

Blenheim, mistake in the title. So unfortunately, they do not give me bombs, or rockets.

I knew he did not have the fully upgraded engine, but he did have the guns.

Did that but didn't work so well I was already mostly dead by the time my allies got to me/I got to the base.. Unfortunately I do not have a replay to show... So you  can see for yourself

Actually, Brush.. most heavies don't have any speed advantage over their equal tier fighter counterparts. What they do have, however, is an ungodly superior boost time and cooldown, along with a usually higher optimal altitude.

@OP:  Since you came out with it, look again at the Blenheim and the P-36. The Blenheim with its best configuration (20mm Hispanos make a large difference in combat) vs. the P-36 in it's second fastest (includes the 7mm/.30 caliber brownings) configuration... the P-36 beats it in top speeds.

It gets even better in speeds without even the 30 cals. But, even with the 23mm Madsen's, it's energy retention, lighter weight, and near similar boost times... along with better diving speeds means it can still close with you.... if you let him. But he's no longer as fast on top speed as you. He drops down to 387 top speed at altitude/ 478 at altitude

Edit: 387 at altitude...  gotta love pasting issues while some web mechanics are blocked at work...  :veryhappy:

Anyways.. in conclusion.. even if you run without the extra guns on the Blenheim, you cannot possibly be faster than the fastest configuration of a P-36.

Edit: Oh and those speeds are on the website's encyclopedia, so they're km/h  not MPH. To convert to MPH, divide by 1.60934

Well I guess it's good to know that the game isn't "broken" and it was just my imagination. Thanks for the help.

I've always wondered how 2 identical aircraft (BF110C6) can pass head on, equal altitude and similar kinetic energy, 1 boosts away, and the other turns 180° within 1650 FEET and shoots the other down

"Balancing"

Few airplanes can "outrun" ANY others in this game.

As we all know, this is an arcade game. My guess is that none of the developers have ever been in combat with a real WWII aircraft. That being said, it is what it is.
