Hello All,

In Open Beta, I loved the 109F.  I could absolutely melt away anything in my path and climb away with impunity.  Now, it seems I cannot hit the broad side of a barn with the gondolas.  Even when I wait until 500 - 600 meters away, I simply am not connecting and/or do very little damage.

Conversely, I can be devestating in my 190A-5.  I seem to be able to connect almost everytime and do tremendous damage, especially to heavy fighters.  What is it about the 109F that is so different?  What do you recommend for being able to make effective use of the cannons?

Thanks!

Hey bud.

PM DirtyWings , Wing_Commander_Zero , or pappabear, and they can get you into flights with LIGS pilots. They're a good bunch to train with.

Check the Flight School chat channel out in irder to find players to flight up with and learn from each other.

Are you aware of the new WG video guide on the 109F? I'm not sure if you saw this already.

There's nothing different between the cannons on the 109 and A-5. Same muzzle velocity. Positions on the wing are a little different, but not major, with a slight edge to the FW.

If you're not connecting with the 109's cannons, it's could be because your angles of attack are different. The 109 usually fights more from the vertical and deflection shooting can be a little tougher if someone's circling below. Are you watching your tracers or just aiming at the lead indicator? I don't even bother with the lead indicator.

Thanks, Miser.  I initially fire at the lead indicator, but if I'm not connecting I fire in front of the lead indicator.  I'll have to watch my tracers more and see if that helps.

The aiming is off with this new patch. I find placing the reticule a bit above the target I'm firing helps. The 109 F with the outboard weapons is a flying house granted not as bad as the 190 A-5 but still pretty terrible. Without them you will be firing only nose mounted weapons which are inherently harder to aim if only because up until this tier MOST planes have some form of mandatory wing-mounted weapon.

Colonel_Kraken

I fly both tier 6 109 and 190.

I have to say that 109 is actually EASIER to fly and get guns on target.

109's flying characteristics (other than roll rate) are better that 190s.

I have really good win rate with 109, better than with 190.

Email me a replay and I send you few of mine.

PS: How do you do with Tier 4 and 5 109s?

Those are very good planes.

I took the wing mounts off 109F, and I do much better.  Go figure . . .

I fly the 109 F without the extra guns because it seems more unique that way. It doesn't rack up aces, but it does stay alive longer.

Two 109F's working in tandem turns out pretty well:
