What's the most important aspect of a plane? Speed, maneuverability, or firepower? I prefer something highly maneuverable, but reasonably armed. What tech line should I go down?

There should be a balance between these three aspects although, as for now, the most important ingame are speed and firepower.

As maneuverable and punchy planes are concerned you could go for the Russians, which depends on your taste. If you want to play with trollcannons you should choose the Yak7-Yak9-Yak9U branch, if you want more agile planes you should choose the standard Yak branch(Yak 1 and so on), if you want planes which are a bit more balanced in terms of speed/firepower/maneuverability you should choose Las.

Of course this is just my opinion :)

IJN line would fit the bill "highly maneuverable, and very well armed",what it does lack though is the ability to take even a few hits, but if your an aggressive pilot you will do well with the IJN planes.

The most important aspect - after the pilot - is the engine. Engine power gives you options - an underpowered plane, no matter its guns or turn radius, will be taken advantage of by a plane with a good engine due to the ability to chose maneuvers that put the other at a disadvantage.

Of course you do want guns and maneuverability too, but engine comes first.

I never said I was good.

USA needs GA too.

Ok... Frankly taking pilot out of the equation,l...OPTIMUM ALTITUDE is the most important stat by far..not even close..in world of warplanes...not manuver not firepower....and not speed...tho il take it as a number 2 thing... But its all about opt alt....thats why no one flies russiAn...n why germans r popular...with the americans also...opt alt...and interestingly..this is a new stat category in 1.2

The correct answer is not available in the poll.

The most important aspect of a plane is how it looks.  If you look good, you feel good, and when you feel good; you fight with confidence!

The pilot.

The wings. Without them, there is no lift and you are just another vehicle on the ground.

Agree with most of what all have said here...

None of the above.

Maximum effective operating altitude.

Believe it or not, this is true!  I tend to be more careful with my "pretty" planes. Don't want to get too many bullet holes in the wings. The ugly planes... who cares. Let 'em get torn up.
