Richthofen's War from Avalon Hill in the Mid 1970's. Yes, I am old and have grey hair to prove it.

The first one I ever  flew was on an Atari.

The first Online Game was Red Baron on "The Sierra Network" and Air Warrior on Genie. Think Red Baron was first. Late 1980's

That's a rail shooter, and was centered around spaceships, hovertanks and at one time a submarine. Mainly spaceships.

First plane game was F-15 Eagle Jane's Combat Simulator.... I would tell you the truth and say it was the 2 little planes on the first generation black and white in home game system. You know the one. The one that came with PONG. You had PONG, race cars, planes and the tanks. I think the Archeologist call it ATARI.

Proud to say it was Wowplanes. Have enjoyed it the day I signed up for it. It's a great game it's fun and stressful sometimes But I love it. I have 17 planes and fly all of them. I start at one end and go through all of them 3 times. My grandkids like it also they have not been playing to much because they are busy with sports.

Sky Destroyer...

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

Hellcats Over the Pacific on the Macintosh! I played the crap out of that game, first real 3d game I played, I think. Pretty primitive graphics, the plane models had like maybe a dozen or so faces, no multiplayer, just a handful of missions and only one plane to fly... but the flight model was actually quite excellent. In fact when I later got into more advanced simulators like Il2 Sturmovik and MS Combat Simulator, the F6F Hellcats in those games flew exactly like they did in that old Mac game from 1990.

AC 5 was bland to me. Pathetic enemies, ridiculously bad aces (not a single ace squadron in any AC game I've played is worse than Grabacr and Ofnir), pathetic missiles, low difficulty in general, most characters (mainly Nagase), etc. Everything seemed bland there. ACZ had a classy story with Spanish guitar though, plus the ace squadrons are rather frequent to come by, so it's not that dull after all.

Ok I'll stop being a critic. Not like AC 2 was hard too. :|

This is slightly embarrassing, but the 2008 Blazing Angels- Squadrons of WW2. I spent all Sunday with my son trying to beat that one Top Secret level.

Red Baron, DOS based.  Came bundled with A10-Tankbuster as well.  Then I spent a good 6+ years on Red Baron 3d online, ran gunnery training and energy fighting classes in my Squadron and used to setup the annual trip to Rhinebeck NY to visit the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome.  Also messed around with Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 1, 2, and 3.  Spent a lot of time in Fighter Ace 3.5, Spitfire X.IV and Corsair F4U-4C (the OP one with the 20mm cannons that caused so much rage).  Janes and IL2 as well.
