Could you add this thread? http://forum.worldof...ou-should-know/

It's very basic stuff we take for granted but a new player won't know.

Thanks, it's been added!

If you ever come across a new player that's willing to learn then refer any of these guides to them.

Thank you Captain F22,

I tried those curves on my logitch extreme pro joystick. They def. helped steady my pitch axis. i'm getting more accurate shots. My elite Hawk 75M has a top speed of 350+ mph. I'm only getting a little over 214 mph out of it at full thrust, no boost. Can i get close to full speed ?

That being said, i'm still gettng shot down alot. When i look at other pilots posted video's, it it definelty a different look at the sky/enemy than what i am getting. Is there a camera setting I am missing ? I am flying an elite hawk 75M. About a 143 battles so far. It seems other pilots with the same plane or less, turn quicker and get more shots on me, than I do to them.  when they get on my 6, I can't seem to shake em.

Any advice, greatly appreciated. Thank you JP

The top speed is max rated speed the plane can handle due to stresses etc before over-speeding, but normally your plane will have it's best speed in it's altitude band which is listed in hanger and in game as a bright green bar on your right on the HUD.

Getting shot down a lot is very common for beginners, but you can chose to review your replays which can be enabled in game settings to see what you did wrong. Also, you can seek out good or well known players to help teach you. Setting up a flight is the best solution to where they can teach you via private text/voice chat or you can use a Teamspeak or other VoIP server they give you.

It's not really an issue of camera settings, but rather a lack of situational awareness on you part likely. I always found looking at the minimap and using the snap to target camera view a lot when in a dogfight. Looking at your minimap and snap to target views along with your view hat toggle every 3-5sec would be a start. Granted, flying is complex and requires a lot of focus and coordination.

Having keybinds for snap to target and target switching helps a lot. Since you're using a joystick you should be able to out maneuver others for a short time unless the plane on your tail is very agile such as Japanese or Russian planes. Also, crew skills do add a bit of an effect in a plane's performance so you may want to look into working on your pilot's skills before you go onto the next plane. Lastly, some of the US planes are what you call "energy fighters" or they use their advantages in speed and higher altitude performance to their advantage so you'll want to minimize your energy loss by going vertical or horizontal in some plane's cases and using "Boom and Zoom" or attacks where you fly in, shoot, and get out.

Thank you Captain F22. I will try all those tactics. I agree my situational awareness needs to be a lot better. I will try key "G"- snap to target.

Appreciate the help.

Respectfully,

JP

Could this be updated for Release 1.9? I was reading through and finding things about HQ.  I have not seen an HQ in the low tier matches I play.  Is HQ something in higher tiers or still in the game?  Thanks

WmDRainey, when this game went live each side had a base(HQ) that was worth a chunk of points if you destroyed it, but wasnt worth someone going in by themselves in a heavy and trying to bomb the hq right off the bat and getting killed mostly before they bombed the base,  or slightly after it. Supposedly it also lowered the effectiveness of aa, but I didn't notice too big of a change. In 1.5 they removed the bases, probably because people would suicide thinking that destroying the base  alone was going to win the game. Which it never did.

Yep, as Psicko23 already noted, the base/HQ for all intensive purposes was removed in 1.5. I'll try to update the list of guides this week.

Great stuff.  Didn't see one on the yaw graph for mouse/kb users, explanation and recommendations. Is there such a tutorial besides the official?

Not that I know of, but you can always ask around and get some help there.

Thanks Captain. I did and the knowledge I gained is absolutely contradictory on almost all points. :teethhappy:
