Which one of these planes is better at killing GT's? I want to make the decision far in advance, so i'm not wasting any time.

There both fine for Gt's. I prefer the IL-10 because of the fact I can go air to air if I have too. The cannons on the IL-10 have a higher fire rate then the Top cannon on the IL-8. This can mean the difference of taking a plane that's in front of you out of the air or missing and getting killed by the plane.

The IL-10 is just my personal preference between the two, I think it does an overall better job.

I have both. I prefer the IL-8 to the IL-10 because I live for bomb killing. The IL-8 has more HP & can carry 6 x 100kg bombs. The IL-10 is indeed faster, but I still like the IL-8 better. Either one will get the job done.

:honoring:

The IL-10 can actually defend itself, while the IL-8 is hobbled by a rather useless pair of 7.62mm MGs in addition to it's possible top 45mm cannons. Until WG dumps gun spread back into the wastebasket from whence it cometh, the IL-8 will mainly be useful for getting blood pressure medication perscriptions.

Save the Skywhales (that includes the Skorcas)!!!

Less RNG, More skill: Revert to 4.1 TODAY!!!

I have them both because I like IL's. The IL 8 is more powerful.... but I like the IL10 best as it's faster, more maneuverable and, as Pappa pointed out, a better aircraft to aircraft weapon..

With the NR-23 taken off the IL-10 it's a tossup (back then, that very NR-23 is the same one IL-20 uses).

I only had experience with the IL-10. It only carry 4 light bombs as opposed to 6 on the IL-8 just like Zapperguy pointed out. But I don't really like how big cannon works so I picked the IL-10, and it does not disappoint.

On the IL-2t you get two style of firepower - using the 23mm or 37mm. If you like the former, go for the IL-10, the IL-8 for the latter. I reckon that either will get the job done...it's just a matter of preference. Test both styles on the IL-2t to find your answer. BTW, the IL-8 uses 23mm stock but its upgrades are bigger cannons, while the IL-10 goes to the more advanced model of 23mm (and eventually mount four of those).

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

Wow, that's excellent advice! Thank you so much! +1

IL-8 = Yak-9U

IL-10 = Yak-3

as simple as that.

That doesn't help at all. I haven't flown either of these planes.

That's what I wanted to say to him...but by looking at the tech tree would give roughly the same picture.

The Yak-9U carries one 45mm cannon while the Yak-3 carries one NS-23 cannon, both are backed up by two B-20 cannons.

The message remain the same: Bigger gun or better mobility. Although, the analogy is way too advanced.

The Yak-9U's top engine is the Yak-3's intermediate engine...and Yak-9U's intermediate engine is the Yak-1M's top engine.

Come to think of it, the IL-8's top engine is the IL-10's stock engine!

I'm aiming to advance the Soviet GA line up to the IL-10, it's what was used during the Korean War so, that's my current end point for the Soviet GA line.
DICTA BOELCKE for WoWP
    1. Try to secure the upper hand before attacking.
    2. Always continue with an attack you have begun
    3. Open fire only at close range, and then only when the opponent is squarely in your sights
    4. You should always try to keep your eye on your opponent, and never let yourself be deceived by ruses
    5. In any type of attack, it is essential to assail your opponent from behind
    6. If your opponent dives on you, do not try run away from his attack, but fly to meet it
    7. When over the enemy's lines, always remember your own line of retreat
    8. It is better to attack in groups of four or six. Avoid two aircraft attacking the same opponent

I'm really trying to ignore my stats and just play what I want... but I noticed that My IL 8 W/R is 37% and my IL 10 W/R is 55%.

It seems like I get "262'd" very quickly in the IL 8.

The royal whales are a whole new breed with their gas sacks. A matured sky whale plays like an IL-2 calf with a massive tailgun: Choose the 23mms and then if you want, choose the 57mms and amputate.

I'm sorry but I can't understand what you're telling me. IL-2 calf? Which 'whale' are you referring to here?
