Short answer: Whatever way feels best for you.

Longer answer:

Remember, loading out the 37mm makes you nose heavy, so your pitch rate hurts. Loading out rockets makes you wing heavy, and so it affects your roll rate and drag/speed.

Loading the maximum number of guns also makes you wing/nose heavy and therefore also affects overall maneuverability and speed.

I load them with the biggest guns I can, including the 50 cal and 37mm. However, I have a 40% hit rate with more air than ground kills, so what I lack in the maneuvering, I make up for in my ability to get hits.

So, your best question would be: "How do I kit this plane out to best suit ____ flight style within this Russian Fighter line?" in which case I can give you a much better and more in depth answer.

Hope it helps,

Alex!

Personally, I load just 50cal and 23mm. I can't hit with the single shot cannon with the 300-400 ping I'm playing with, and the ShKAS simply does not worth it as it forces you to fire at below 600m for maximum effect.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

I made this clear a long time ago: Ditch the ShKAS machine guns. Then you have two builds you can use with the M-106 engine:

1. VYa LaGG. The VYa is an excellent cannon for its tier and can lay down the hurt on anything well. Just energyfight at low alt and punch people in the face. At that point, you're the team's papery bruiser that can somewhat turn with 109Es.

2. Dogfighter LaGG. Put 3 .50 cals on there. While the firepower is weak, do not underestimate the mobility and climb rate you get. You will be capable of outturning most planes your tier without much trouble, and also outclimb a good portion of them. It's a fun build, but you need to know how to keep a steady line of bullets aimed right at the enemy or the damage per hit will be horrendous.

I do not like the cannon due to how it overheats fast. Forget about mistakes, one and only your .50 cals hit. VYa LaGG's much more merciful in that department.

Actually, Heh. 3x50 isn't so bad. My F3F always did it's fair share of killing tier 7-10 with just two. And, the Russian 50 cal fires faster

You think everything's OP.

The only time a Lagg's OP is when a spud is flying it. Hint: it isn't the plane.

Honestly, I liked it the best with the single .50 and 37mm. Yes you have to have some patience and aim but its more than capable that way. The single .50 and 23mm is not bad either.  Given a choice, I almost take turning/climb over firepower.

If everything is overpowered, then nothing is overpowered. Amirite?

Lots of things are Overpowered when you're bad.

Another benefit of staying away from the 37mm is that your banana of an engine doesn't give itself a hernia every time you try and gain altitude or turn.

Im struggling with Yak-1 with this configuration.  It's just not enough volume to bring a plane down quickly.

The single 50cal is much more powerful than the pair of ShKAS can ever be.

At least having only two guns keep the ammo cost low so you can just load sprem premium ammunition and fire away..

I run mine fully loaded with everything and boom with no zoom. I usually go after light easy to kill targets that are on a team mate and raking his rear full of holes. Usually, they don't see me, catch em in a turn and 2 rounds of the 37 put em down. Good lil tactic, but if u screw it up and they pull off ur teammate and onto u, ur SOL. Derping zero's is a great pastime in this thing, especially when they try and go head on with you.
