The first set of AAs is for the player's position in the battle lineup, other nations use #1-15. The second A is what flight the player is in, if flighted. Again, other nations use #s for this.

To clarify:
the dual letter 'AA' changes depending on whether you are in a flight, and what number flight you are in (flight '1' gets AA, flight '2' gets AB etc etc) the other nations simply have a symbol for this
the single letter 'A' changes based on your position on the players list 'A'-'O' (corresponding to 1-15)
