Load sprem (API in 50cal, HE in cannon). With just two guns the operating cost should be relatively low even with full load of gold rounds.

Just 1 50cal and 1 cannon is actually rather well-armed...or did they nerfed the cannons again? Anyway, the Yak-1 (and this entire side of the line)'s strength lies in turning ability, that's why they are even flimsier than Japanese planes.

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...

Your ping is around 250? Oh, I see what you did there. You tried to blame your sucky gameplay on your plane, when in reality your internet option is the problem.

DSICLAIMER: I'm sure you live in the Outback, or Antarctica, and still want to play a flying game. I suggest trying Crimson Skies on an original Xbox. You will find that your ping is perfect.

Nope, not his internet. If he has problems killing, it's his internet. However, he got shot down easily, so I blame it on him.

People around here tend to be brutally honest...yes, brutally.

BTW, I play in 350 ping and I've made it this far...

Wait until you get the Yak-1m.  You have a little more speed and firepower, but the same 160 hit points.  Just hope you don't get hit.  I think the 160 hit points is a typo.  Well I hope it is.  :amazed:

Ping isn't the problem for kills, focus on your style of play.

Ping is s problem for hitting.   At 300 ping you have to aim at where your enemy will be in 3/10ths of a second PLUS bullet travel time.  It's like trying to aim while drunk.

Also, high ping will make evading difficult because the server doesn't know you've moved right away.   If your enemy's bullets get to where you were before the server registers that you moved,  you will be "hit".

I play on net that ranges between 50 and 200 ms.  That difference is huge and easily noticeable in game.
@OP, You should try out a heavy fighter.   Either the German or British heavy line offer more hitpoints, more firepower, more speed, and longer boost time.  All of these things will allow you to do better and survive longer if you operate the plane the way a HF should be.  CrashTailspin's guide can be found HERE and is a great primer for a new HF driver.

As I mentioned, I also, usually play with some lag issues (although not as severe as yours).  The heavy fighters have enough weight of fire that when you do have a shot, it counts and does a lot of damage quickly.  When you are laggy and get people mad at you, HF have enough boost, climb and hitpoints to survive a getaway.  This gives the opportunity to set up another attack run instead of having to head to the garage.

I agree the RU fighters look cool (note my avatar, R.I.P La-5), some were great WWII fighters and their stats on paper would make them seem fun to play.  Unfortunately the current 5.2/5.3 altitude mechanics make these planes obsolete ingame.

The american fighter line might also do well for you, having more agility to dodge, but less boost time and a little bit less hitpoints.

ping can be a problem ,but players that play in it all the time learn how to compensate ,In the game F-22L3 by novaligic the Brazilians played in it all the time ,if fact they used it as a tactic, and beat you in it to ( at that time back in the 90 many of them were still on dial up ,and the server tried to balance the transmission ,making our end of it a  mess)

I don't use much aggression in my posts for the most part. Basically, here's a rundown of how my posts would look like:

1. Telling the guy he's wrong.
2. Telling the guy why he's wrong.
3. Add a few sarcastic nudges (optional)

I fail to see how actually telling the guy he's wrong is actually an issue. If he's wrong, he's wrong, and someone needs to tell him he's wrong. If he's right, he's right and so I leave it be or extend on that idea of his.

Fun with rockets, cool engine/12.7mm sound effects, but pretty worthless versus tier 5/6 planes.

Are you bored dude? :teethhappy:

Are you going to go through every one of the 2 and 3 month old plane-specific threads and 'dust them off"?  Or maybe you were on vacation and just got back...

I have now run through 30k or so XP in this plane.

It is solidly bad for it's tier, but I still do well in it because at tier 5 I can find nubs trying to turn with me all day. I expect the tier 6 to SUCK MIGHTILY.
