Is the Yak 1 less accurate than the Yak 7?
I seem to get hits better with the 7 than I do with the 1.

Yak 7 has an extra gun, plus that 37mm gives the illusion of hitting more based on the fact that when it hits, it hits hard.

I don't think the 37mm gun is worth it, doesn't seem to be hard hitting at all.

both has same numbers of gun.

differences:

yak 1: 20mm ShVAK, lighter, better airframe
yak 7: 37mm ShFK, heavier, worse airframe

both on its max config btw

if you look these planes are near twins...however the yak-1 is much better when outfitting the same...the yak-7 is no where near the yak-1 in maneuver .its also slower climbs slower.....when you put the 37 MM on yur maneuver drops to like 309 if I remember....and it becomes a dog.... if anything its VERY similar to the xfl-1 with the 37..but less useful because I t is a 2400 alt plane and the xfl-1 is over 3k...the only reasons to pick a yak seven over a yak one is if u want the "flying tiger shark mouth" it looks good on the yak-7.....OR because you want the yak-9-9U to try out the 45 MM for lolz...given the choice go for the yak-1...yak-1M

Umm...Yak-1 only got one 12.7mm against the Yak-7's two

WoWP makes a great jousting game...especially with the 262 and people busy in furballs...
I am deaf, silent, and fly with unrealistic controls. Do not count on me to carry - my back's already broken from overweight.

perhaps it is just  that you can pilot it better. Seriously there are some planes I can do better in than others regardless of tier and configuration.

But what you said actually occur on the next tier.

The Yak-9 is so much hit-or-miss it's so discouraging to fight on due to lower velocity 45mm and only single machine gun to fall back on.

I mistook it for the Yak-9U's upgraded 37mm that fires at 400rpm but at some 600m/s velocity or so...

Even with that velocity, though, the Yak-9 is still quite unforgiving for those with poor marksmanship.

Spoiler

Now that the game is live, should I get the Yak-1 or keep waiting for the Yak-7?

Do you equip the 37mm or stick with the 20? Which ammo do you load? I just started flying it & haven't been able to determine if the 37mm is really making any difference. Have been loading rockets and have some rocket kills vs IL's, but again not sure if they hinder more than help overall.

The main reason to choose the Yak-7 line is for the huge cannons. If you want to stick to cannons, go to the Yak-1 line. If the latter doesn't have enough firepower, go Lavochkin.

I went for the N-37 and not going for the NS-45M atm..

Because N-37's chainsaw-derp mode is already good, and i need to move on to tier 8.

Standard ammo ftw, it still costs me 12K including repair.

I used to think the same. Then last night while flying this plane. I nearly one shot a Tier 6 Zero. I nearly crapped myself. My guns hit for 2 dmg, then the cannon smacks it and it just went pop. I actually did this to two or three other planes during one battle. I've never had that luck before in battle, but it was amazing. I even recorded it and just need to piece the video together so I can upload it.

One guy that got hit with the cannon and exploded asked in chat if he got hit with a rocket....Told him no it was a 37mm....he said. nice shot or something to that effect lol.

It is a nice plane, as long as you know you aren't going to be able to dogfight with zero's (as with the Yak-1, I feel I can at least keep up with them with certain maneuvers and boost in turns), but honestly...when that 37mm hits, it's such a good feeling.

P.S - I just picked up my Yak-9 to try last night and I have a La-5/Yak-1M. Out of all of these, I must say that my Yak-1M (even more-so than my Zero) might be my favorite plane to date. I haven't gotten into Tier 7 yet, but have all the Solviet's up to Tier 6 (except the Attackers)

Fight together, leave no one behind; unless you can get supremacy .

See you in the skies!

I go with the 37 mm.... its not as powerful as the aamerican 37 mm...on the xfl-1 but its good......when your pilot gets crack shot the yak 7 yak 9 become scary.... oppents when they get a shot off... much like a "backstab" in dungeons and dragons....
