EDIT:  22 November 2012 2:50PM Pacific Time (yes, Thanksgiving Day)

This update is HUGE!  All of the images are now up-to-date, most of the old content has been removed, new content added, and the organization is much more in line with the current World of Tanks manual.  Hyperlinks were added all over the place, so people can jump to exactly what they're looking for.  Also, the manual revision name will reflect the build number the game is currently in, so it's even easier to know if you've got the current manual.

Yes, I do understand that there's only a "Getting Started" and "Basic" section to the manual.  Rest assured, more will be added coming up soon!  Enjoy everyone!!

Welcome to the "un"official site of the World of Warplanes Game Manual!  This manual has been designed to help new Beta Testers understand the basic concepts of the game.

Anyone can benefit from this manual, from World of Tanks veterans and flight sim enthusiasts to absolute newcomers to computer gaming.  I highly recommend utilizing this manual for reference if you have any questions regarding the game.  Many questions can be answered by searching the manual's PDF bookmarks.  (If you're not familiar with PDF bookmarks, download the latest version of Adobe Reader here:  Adobe PDF Reader)

This manual will be in a consistent state of upgrade due to the unknown nature of update content until it's released.  Therefore, some information may be out of date.  If you have any recommendations as to what you'd like to see in future revisions, please leave a reply!

Enjoy!

Hey crash, manual looks great. But I would like to add one comment. It sure does look a real manual, but the more words/pages of you have, the less I'm going to want to read it. I'm going to assume that the manual james asked for was to be comprehensive.

It's because I was editing it...  :Smile-_tongue:  I take the old version offline to avoid double-downloading.  Remember, this is a work in progress - I'll continually be editing it!  Make sure to keep tabs on which version you have.  I'll post the current version with update status immediately after.

Very useful thanks very much. Makes for great reading while the client downloads and who knows, maybe I wont go down in a flaming wreck straight away.

Give me 30 seconds to do that. ;)

Thanks Crash. I'm a bit old fashioned and a manual will go a long way in getting set up.

Jumped in to WoWP for the first time today and felt a little lost.  :Smile_unsure: Kept accidentally turning my engine off!
Cheers

Working through manual now, good job btw! Maybe if it becomes comprehensive enough over time it could get used for the official manual???

Suggestions (NOT criticism):

P5 ->P9
Add descriptions to settings choices, same as the descriptions on P12 for the main screen (P11).

P8
Mention joystick axis mapping only goes in 4th column. Maybe mention that the multiple columns allow multiple keys/buttons to be allocated to the same command.

P13, Para 2
"To start a player vs. player battle, click “Battle!” with Standard Battle selected. Once in the query, a list of players will be displayed on the left side of the screen, with a chat window on the right. Select “Ready” to make your aircraft ready for battle."

I do not see the "Ready" button when I play, after hitting battle MM shows a list of available players, once it has enough players or times out the map automatically loads and the battle starts.
Is this a relic from an older client version?

P14
Description of "Secondary Window", is this the official term? When I was technical mod for The Creative Assembly it was referred to as Picture in Picture (PIP).
