Anyone using one & if so, how is it compared to the mouse/keyboard?

What is the best set up for it?

I tried but failed, I also tried with WoT and failed. Maybe if I stuck with it and got used to it but the way you look around with the mouse was what I had most problem with using contoller in both games.

There is no control scheme for Wot. You can only use mouse/keyboard.

There is no control scheme for Wot. You can only use mouse/keyboard.

you can use a programmable controller, where you use an external program to define keypresses for the  controller actions (identical to defining buttons on gaming mice)... that is very old technology and can be done on just about any controller..

WoT does not support AXIS modes, which an extrenal controller program would not  be able to map, but with WoT you  wouldn't really need to...basically you  can use your controller without the analog sticks (like the old Super Nintendo controllers)
If at first you don't succeed, then don't go skydiving!!!

I used a Thrustmaster T.Flight stick for the longest time, and up to about a 6 weeks ago, I started using a Razer Sabretooth (http://www.razerzone...azer-sabertooth)

I have it configured quite to my liking - sensitivity for all flight controls is at zero, deadzone around 10%. Right stick is for pitch / roll and left stick is throttle (+ boost) / rudder. I have buttons bound for rockets and bombs, snap-to-target, flaps, a few basic radio calls (clear tail, roger, etc), and a couple others.

I'm not going back to my flight stick. Using the gamepad feels very natural for me, but that is likely due to the fact that I fly R/C planes with the exact same stick setup for flight controls.

If you want, send me a private message and I can give you my entire controller layout and settings.

Hey Tweakz, I tried to message you but I'm too new to send mail (annoying but I imagine it keeps down the bots and scammers somewhat) I have a Saitek P2500 that looks similar to the gamepad you listed. I cant get it to allow me to turn. It will pitch up, down and do rolls but that doesn't help much. Can you help out a noob flyer if you have the time?
This a link to a pic of it.

There's a driver you need to download for XBox 360 controllers.  Once it's installed you're good
to go.

About almost the same as a joystick which is night and day....
Anyways here's the link.  Be sure you have a wireless\wired adapter (MS makes one that
is 1st party) for your PC.  Be warned that 1st production run Xbox 360 gamepads may not
work.  This driver may also work with some 3rd party products also.
http://www.microsoft...ownloads#gaming
Pick the one that best fits your description then pick your OS.  Trust me it works and I've
done my research.
Please note the driver turns (or should) your Xbox 360 into plug n' play and that you won't
need Xpadder or any third party software to run it.  A PS3 will though.

Got that working.
Now just need the right settings for the controller.
What settings do you guys recommend?
Nevermind, I cannot use it as it makes me nauseous.

I have xbox 360 controller PC ... was working great in the begining ... then switched over to mouse & key board to test ... has not been the same since. Tried going into settings to fix but now will not except r. triger to fire. Finallally got flight controls working but don't like having to fire w/a,b,x, or y button because need thumb to help w/flight control. So looks like having to go back to key board & mouse. Also went into windows config and reset which helped getting back flight control but I realy want to use r. triger button to fire. As of now not happy with xbox 360 controller well try thrust master and see if that works. So if you have yours working like you want it DO NOT TRY MOUSE its messed up and can't get it back. Even uninstall both WOWP & XBOX controller and re-intalled no help. Well try another driver if possible.

I use an old Xbox Controller and it works great.  WoWp has the same flight controls as Ace Combat, Blazing, Angels, Secret Weapons Over Normandy, Heroes of the Pacific etc etc etc on console.

X360 Controller

Pitch/Roll = Left Thumpstick
Yaw= Right Thumbstick
Fire Guns= Right Trigger
Fire Rockets= Left Trigger
Kill Engine= Left Bumper
WEPS= Right Bumper
Change Target= Y
Look Back= X
Drop Bomb= B
Toggle Flaps= A
Free Look = Dpad

This allows me to use Pitch/Roll, Yaw, Fire, and Kill Engine at the same time.
