So, several updates ago, you guys nerfed every IL down by 35% speed. Then, you nerfed maneuverability (which was already poor) and pitching. Then you nerfed the already hard to use guns. Now you nerfed the maneuverability and speed another 20%...

So now it's a floating elephant...

Please please fix it.

yeah, the pitching is weird in the new IL-2
get below 130 mph and the most effective way to pitch down from a climb becomes to roll and allow gravity to pull you.
But that puts the weak underbelly of the plane facing upward and you can't drop bombs when inverted or even pitched upward more than ~7 degrees.
The other option is to feel like you lose all forward motion as you sit at the peak of a roller coaster and just hang there waiting for forward motion to kick in and drag the nose down.  And since that slows you down almost to the plane's stall speed, you essentially do lose all forward motion, leaving you vulnerable.

It feels so much like what the TSh-1 and TSh-3 did right at the beginning of 4.0, which is odd since following the tier 1-4 characteristics changes in 5.0

It's the fact that they've been nerfed to 1/3 of their real life top speed, and lousier maneuvering.. it's pathetic... why keep the class?

Because ground game is still valuable?
No, that's not quite true anymore so that can't be it.

They were always sky whales. Come on, learn your aeromarine biology.

Anyway, I do not get why they have to nerf the sky whales. What do they do that's OP? Still, I'm blaming Alex for being too good a sky whale rider. >:c

Before I was admitted to CB, I bought Sturmovik IL2 1946 for $4.99 from Amazon. I am a slow learner, and knew I would need a lot of practice, learning to fly. When I joined CB, earning the IL2 was my first objective. It is a legendary plane from a legendary air force which fought against unimaginable odds. It is a chanda to see it nerfed into impotency. Please restore the plane to its multi-mission roll. Wulf

It's all in the name of game balance of course.

Perhaps, they should just have placed it into a higher tier?

It's not my fault they fall for old tricks.
I still honestly do not understand how people are getting killed by bombs.  I mean, this truly boggles my mind.  I was so surprised when I killed someone with my bomb, I was all ready to go put in a ticket, then I realized they were stupid enough to fly into the blast.

It can barely climb a hill to hit a GT.. let alone have any self defense...

I meant killing ground targets in general, but this is true also.
The best defense it has are the bombs.  As I recall from before open beta I had a general ranking of this line for different reasons per plane.

The IL-2 was close to the bottom because of no tailgunner and lacking any maneuverability.  Since the two seater was faster, had more/bigger bombs and a gunner, it came up above it and so I'd rather have had this one over the previous.  Since the 8 was even faster, had BIGGER bombs and actually had some better agility as well as a stock paint option I loved for personal reasons, I'd rather have had the 8 over the previous.
I haven't worked back up to the 8 yet but even just in a few battles with the 2, I'm remembering why I didn't fly it much once I tiered up.

To add insult to injury, a 2 could be in the same battle as an 8 and that was never fun

Its like complaining that too many people are getting killed at a RR crossing. Duh??

The train has to follow the tracks. Its really big. It has a huge sun-bright light on the front. It makes a LOT of noise. It has really loud horns. There is only one way to get hit by it, and that is to get in its way.
Yet people still do.

Its just a case of natural selection.

This. from what I understand, they were a rather impressive line of planes and deserve proper billing.

I don't know enough about them really, but if their historically accurate configuration and armaments made them comparable to higher tier planes, putting them in lower tiers to "fill a spot" seems to be an injustice.  As much as people hate making parallels to WoT, we have many examples in those tech trees of the same class tanks being in the same tier on the same tech tree.  Perhaps this a case where this should be implemented in WoWp.  Our first parallel plane so to speak?

I find using bombs to kill flying aircraft to be gamey. Realistically if an enemy chasing you is close enough to get caught in the bomb blast you are too.

It's easily the worst mechanic in the game. I've been using it to my advantage, but it is still nonsensical.

You can be closer to your own bomb blast than the enemy and kill him, while leaving yourself unharmed.

I agree with OP.
What it needs
A. Maneurvabilty Buff, mainly for climbing
B. Stability buff (If thats a thing). They shake way to much when trying to shoot stuff.

The Speed is workable, armor is..... *workable*, although without a tail gunner, mobility or speed, it is nearly impossible to shake something on your tail, unless their dumb enough to get within bomb range.

My stats are bad because the IL-2 Is bad.

umm... I have killed myself with a bomb many times...

Thats another thing. If you drop a bomb at 0% thrust, often you will not outrun the splash damage of it, and you will die.

My stats are bad because the IL-2 Is bad.

I've only gotten myself with the bombs when I drop them and then pitch down. It's a suicide tactic to get the plane behind you to nose down into your bomb blast.

Many times I have dropped my bombs, had my pursuer over shoot me, go over me and ahead of me then blow up. Not damaging me in any way, it seems very wonky.
